T0 BIDDER EGR THE CON~TRUCTION O~
A EIRE HOUSE IN SAIS CITY.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the city of South Sah Francisco that l'ublic interest and con-
venience require that said City should construct a fire house on the land described in the notice
hereinafter set forth.
Said fire house shall conform with the plans and specification Sherefor filed in the office
of the City Clwrk of the City of South San Francisco on the £gth. day of Dece.mber,1927,which plans
an~ specifications are hereby adopted for said purpose.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish for. two (2) weeks in "The Enterprise and The South
San Francisco Journal", a newspaper Of general circulation printed and pvblished in said City of
South Sen Francisco,the .following notice inviting sealed proposals, or bids for the construction
of such fir e house:

Sealed proposals will be received by the City C'omacil o.f the City of South Ssn Praucisco until
?:Z0 o'clock p.m. on Monday., The 2Zrd. day of January ,1928, for the constructin~$ a fire house up

,Co~ty of San ~ateo,State of California,and particularly described ~ follows, to-wit:
Begi~ing at a point on the nortke-rly line of Swift Aven~e (Formerdy Walker Avenue) in the
City of South S~ Fr~cisc~. Said p~t being di~'tant S.56~ ST' 18" E.iO.10 feet and N. SS° 22'
42" E. 50 feet from granite monu~:;ent set tn center line of Swift Avenue at first angle point
east of the Southern Pacific Railroad: running thence N.56° 37' 18" w. alon~ the northerly line of
Swift Avenue 26,60 feet; thence continuing along the northerlyline of Swift Ave. S 8~° 52' 30"
W. 84.40 feet; thence leaving said northerly line of Swift Avenue and ruling N. ~3 22' 42" E.
246.59 feet; thence S.56° 37' 18" E.95.98 feet and S.Z5° 22' 42" W. 200.00 feet to the point of
beginning.
Containing .48 Acres and being a por~tion of the Burl Buri Rancho.
All labor and materials used in the const~ction off said ffire house and said fire house shall
be in strict compliance with the plans and specification adopted b~ said City Council therefor on the
29th. day off December,1927, ~d now on fil'e in the office of the City Clerk. The bidder to whom the
contract may be awarded s~ll be required to execute to said City of South S~ Francisco a bond for
the faithful performance of his work ~n ~ amo~t eq~l to twenSy- Five [25) per cent of the amo~t
of his undert~ing with at least two (2) responsible sureties in the full amunt of the bid each;
and will also be required,before entering upon the work, to furnish a good ~d suffient bond as required
by an act of the Legislature of the State of California approved May 10th.1919,entitled "An Act to
secure the pa~ents of claims of persons employed by contractors upon public works,and the calims
of persons who furnish mater~l$,supplies,teams,implements or machinery used or cons~ed by such
contractors in the ~-erformance o~ such works,and prescribing the duties off certain public officers
with reference thereto;" ~d will also be required to e~ibit to said Ci~ Co.oil a policy of i
instance showing that said Bidder is ins~ed against loss t~ough accident or negli~ee ~der the
provisions of the "Workmen's Compensation,Insurance and Safety Act of the State of California."
The contr~t must be entered into ~ compli~ce with and subject to the conditions imposed
by Section 65Jc of the Penal Code of the State of California.
Each proposal must be accompanied with a certified check upon a solveht bank of the State of
California,payable to the City of South San Pranci~co in an accost not less than ten (10) per cent
off the aggregate of the bid,upon the condition that if the proposals be ~cepted and the contract
swarded,and the bidder shall fail and neglect to execute the contract, the s~ menti ned in said check
sh~ll be ~i~m~ liquidated damages for such failure and neglect and shall be forfeited and paid
into the treasur[ 0f said City off South San Prancisco.
Sealed proposals or bids will be delivered to the City Clerk on or before 7:Z0 o'clook p.m.
on L!onday, the 2Zrd. day of January ,1928.
All sealed proposals or bids will be opened by said City Council in public session on ~[onday,
the 23rd. day of J~uary,1928,at 7:Z0 o'clock p.m. in the Council Chamber of sa~d City ~i
C ounc il.
The City Council reserves the right to reject any and and all bids.
