WHEREAS, public interest and conve~e~e require that the work and improvemen$ hereina£$er described should be done; and ~IEREAS, ~n the opinion of the City Council of ~he City of Sout~ Sa~ ~raneiSco, said contemplated work and improvement is, and is hereby declared to be of more them local or ordinary public benefit; NOW, TEERE~0RE, resolved by the City 0ouncil of the City of South San l~rancisco, that it is the intention of said Cimy Council to artier the following work and improvement to be done in the said City, to-wit: Section i. ~hat Commercial Avenue from the easterly line of Orange Avenue to the westerly line of Chestnut Avenue, Orange Avenue from the northerly line of Railroad Avenue to the southerly line of Commercial Avenue, Eucalyptus Avenue, from the northerly line of Commercial Avenue to the southerly line of Baden Avenue and Chestnu~ Avenue from the southerly line o~ Commercial Avenue to the southerly line of Grand Avenue, be improved by grading said avenues for the full length and width thereof between said lines, and also by constructing combined hydraulic cement concrete curbs and gutters and hydraulic cement concrete sidewalks on each side of said avenues, between said lines and also by constructing in the roadways thereof between said gutters for the full length thereof between said lines an asphaltic concrete pavement two (B) inches in thickness laid on asphaltic concrete base four (A) inches in thickness. Section 2. That Railroad Avenue from the westerly line of Magnolia Avenue to the westerly line of Orange Avenue, be improved by grading the same for the full length and width thereof, between said lines, and also by constructing a combined hydraulic cement concrete curb and gutter along the northerly side of' said avenue for the full length thereof between said lines, and by constructing a two (B) inch by six (~) inc~ redwood header-board along the southerly e~ge of the herein proposed pavement and also by paving said avenue for the full~ length thereof, between said lines and between the above proposed header-board on the southerly side of said avenue and the proposed gutter on the northerly side of said avenue with an asphaltic concrete pavemen~ two ches in thickness laid on au asphaltic concre~te base four (,~} inches in t~ickness. Section 3. That that portion o~' She alley which traverses BlOck 116, as shown upon that certain map entitled "South San Francisco, San Mateo Co. Cal., Plat No. 1", whic~ map was filed in t~e office of t~e County Recorder of the County of San Mateo, California, March 1, 189~, and recorded in Map Book No. 2 at page ~2, from the westerly line of Walnut Avenue to the easterly line of Spruce Avenue and that portion of the alley, which traverses Block 8~, as shown upon said map, from the westerly line of Orange Avenue to the easterly line of Acacia Avenue, be improved by grading said portions between the said above described lines for the full width thereof, and also by the construction of a hydraulic cement concrete pavement five (~) inches in thickness having a redwood header-board two (E) inches in thickness by six (6) inches in depth along each side of said contemplated pavement for the full length between said lines and for a width as shown on the plans and specifications hereinafter mentioned. Section 4. That that area on the norhterly side of Grand Avenue, lying between the existing gut~ter and the existing pavement dud extending from the easterly line of Chestnut Avenue to the northeaste?ly line of Mission Road and that area on the southerly side of Grand Avenue lying between the existing gutter and the existing pavement and extenai~ from the northeasterly line of Mission Road to a line across said area~, as shown on the said plans and speci£ications hereinafter referred to at the intersection of the southerly line of Grand Avenue and the northwesterly line of Oak Avenue, be improved by grading said areas for the ~ull width and length of said areas between said lines and by paving said areas with an asphaltic concrete pavement trhee {5) inches in thickness laid upon an asphaltic concrete base four {4) i~nches in thickness. Section ~. That that portion of Gr~nd Avenue from 'tae easSerly line of Chestnut Avenue tO Oak Avenue be improved by grading between the southerly edge of t~e existing pavement and the southerly property line, also by constructing on the southerly side of said portion fro the full length thereof a combined h_vdraulic cemanm ~l~l~.rata ~b ~ 'conven~nme require that the work ~nd improvemen~~ hereinafter described should be done; and WHEREAS, Xn the opinion of the City Council of the City of South Sas ~raneisco, said contemplated work _and improvement is, and is hereby declared to be of more than local or ordinary public benefit; NOW, THEREFORE, resolved by the City Council of the City of South San l~rancisco, that it is the intention of said Cimy Council to erder the following wo~-~k and improvement to be done in the said City, to-wit: Section i. That Commercial Avenue from the easterly line of Orange Avenue to the westerly line of Chestnut Avenue, Orange Avenue from the northerly line of Railroad Aven~ to the southerly line of Commercial Avenue, Eucalyptus Avenue, from the northerly line of Commercial Avenue to the southerly line of Baden Avenue and Chestnut Avenue from the southerly line o~ Commercial Avenue to the southerly line of Grand Avenue, be improved by grading said avenues for the full length and width thereof between said lines, and also by constructing combined hydraulic cement concrete curbs and gutters and hydraulic cement concrete sidewalks on each side of said avenues, between said lines and also by constructing in the roadways thereof between said gutters for the full length thereol' between said lines an asphaltic concrete pavement two (2) inches in thickness laid on asphaltic concrete base four [4) inches in thickness. Section 3. That that portion cZ the alley which traverses Block 11~, as shown upon that certain map entitled "South San ~rancisco, San Mateo Co. Cal., Plat No. 1", which map was filed in tae office of t~e County Recorder of the County of San Mateo, California, March 1, 189E, and recorded in Map Book No. 2 at page 52, from the westerly line of Walnut Avenue to the easterly line of Spruce Avenue and that portion of the alley, which traverses Block 83, as shown upon said map, fro~ the westerly line of Orange Avenue to the easterly line of Acacia Avenue, be improved by grading said portions between the said above described lines for the full width thereof, and also by the construction of a hydraulic cement concrete pavement five [~) inches in thickness having a redwood header-board two [2) inches in thickness by six (6) inches in depth along each side of said contemplated pavement for the i~ull length between said lines and for a width as shown on the plans and specifications hereinafter mentioned. Section 4. That that area on the norhterly side of Grand Avenue, lying between the existing gutter and the existing pavement and extending from the easterly line of Chestnut Avenue to the northeaste?ly line of Mission Road and that area on the southerly side of Grand Avenue lying between the existing gutter and the existing pavement and extendi~ from the northeasterly line of Mission Road to a line across said area~, as shown on the said plans and specifications hereinafter referred to at the intersection of the southerly line of Grand Avenue and the northwesterly line of Oak Avenue, be improved by grading said areas for the. ~full width and length of said areas between said lines and by paving said areas with an asphaltic concrete pavement trhee (3) inches in thickness laid upon an asphaltic concrete base four (4) inches in thickness. Section 5. 2hat that portion of Grand Avenue from 't~e easterly line of Chestnu$ Avenue to Oak Avenue be improved by grading between the southerly edge of t~e existing pavement and the southerly property line, also by constructing on the southerly side of said portion fro the full length thereof a combined hydraulic cement concrete curb and gutter and a hydraulic cement concrete sidewalk, and also by pay%rig said portion between the said existing pavement and the proposed concrete gutter with au asphaltic ~oncrete pavement three (3) inches in 1Sickness laid upon an asphaltic concrete base four [~) inches in thickness. Section 6. That those portions of Grand Avenue and 0a~ Avenue immediately at and surrounding the Junction of said avenues as said portions of said avenues are more particularly shown on that special detailed drawing, forming a part of the plans herein- a~ter mentioned, said sheet showing said drawing being marksd in the lower left hand come as "I~A~", be improved by grading all said portions as shown on said detailed drawing, also.by constructing combined hydraulic cement conrete curbs and gutters and hydraulic zero sidewalks in such portions and at such locations as all are more particularly shown on sai detailed drawing, and also by constructing on said portions of said Oak Avenue, and Grand Avenue, between the existing pavement on Grand Avenue and the herein proposed gutters, an asphaltic concrete pavement three (3~ inches in thickness laid on an asphaltic con- 206 crete base four (4) inches in tlzickness, as more particularly shown on said detailed d~awing. Seoti°n 7~ That red burnt brick storm-water catch-basins, capped with cast iron frames and gratingS, be construcSed in the gutter in Grand Avenue at the two existing oulvers, w~ich cross Grand Avenue, at the places shown upon said plans for said catch-basins. ~ection 6. That two [~) re~ burnt brick storm-water catch-basins with cast iron frames and grating be-constructed in the gutters, one at the northwest corner of the intersection of Orange Avenue with Railroad Avenue, and one at the northeast corner of the intersection of Orange Avenue with Railroad Avenue, at the places shown upon said plans for said catch-basins, an~ that both such catch-basins be co~ecte~ with the existing storm-water mauhole at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Railroad Avenue, by the construction of twn [10) inch vitrified salt-glazed ironstone storm-water sewers at ti~e places shown upon the plans for such S ewer S · Section 9. That fifty-five [55) feet of eighteen (18) inch diameter salt-glazed vitrifies ironstone pipe s~orm sewer with one fl) red burnt brick manhole, capped with cast iron frame and cover, be constructed in the centerline of Eucalyptus Avenue from the southerly line of Commercial Avenue, northerly at the places shown upon the plans hereinafter mentioned, and a~so tha two [2) red burnt brick storm-w&ter catch-basins with cast iron frames and gratings be con- strueted in the gutters, one at the northwest corner and one at the northeas~ corner of the intersection of Eucalyptus Avenue with Commercial Avenue, at the places shown upon said plans hereinafter mentioned, and that both such catch-basins be connected with the proposed storm-water manhole by the construction of ten (10) inch diameter vitrified salt-glazed ironstone sewer pipe at the locations fully shown upon the plans hereinafter referred to. Section 10. That four fA) inca vitrified sal~-glazed ironstone pipe lateral or side sewers be censtructed on Chestnut Avenue at the places shown upon the plans hereinafter men- tioned, said lateral sewers to extend from the existing sewer in Chestnut Avenue to the westerly curb line. Ail work herein provided for shall be done in accordance with the special plans, profiles and specifications for said work and to the official grade shown upon said plans, profiles an~ specifications, which plans, ~rofiles and specifications are entitled, "21ans, profiles and specifications for the construction of improvement work upon portions of Grami Avenue, Chestnut Avenue, Commercial Avenue, Eucalyptus Avenue, Orange Avenue, Railroad Avenue, the portion of the alley between Miller Avenue and Grand Avenue, from Spruce Avenue to Miller Avenue. and the portion of the alley between Grand Avenue and Baden Avenue, from Acacia Avenue to Orange Avenue, in the City of Sou~h San Francisco, County of San Mateo, State of California," which plans, profiles and specifications were heretofore adopted by said City Council on the 28Th day of May, 1926, a~d are now on file in the office of the City Clerk, to which plans, profiles and specifications reference is hereby made for a full description of said work and for the location-and extent of the work to be done hereunder and for a particular description of the boundaries o~ the district herein mentioned, There is excepted, however, from the above mentioned work any and all suc~ wor~ as has been already done to official grade. And said City Council does hereby determine and declare that said proposed work and improvement is of more than local or ordinary public benefit and will affect and benefit the lan~s and mistrict hereinafter described, which said district is hereby declared to be the dis,tric~ bens-fitted-by said work and improvement and that therefore the entire costs and expenses of said work and improvement shall be and are hereby made chargeable against and shall be assessed upon said lands and district, except as hereinafter expressly provided, which district is within said City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo, State of California, and p~rticularly bounded and described as follows, to-wit: BEGII~IlfG at. a point where the northerly line of Grand Avenue intersects The easterly line off Mission Road as shown on that certain map of the Regli Tract, South San Erancisco, California, recorded in Volume 11 of Maps at page 63, San Mateo County Records, and running ewer s. Section 9. That fifty-five (55) feet of eighteen (18) inch diameter salt-glazed vitrified ironstone pipe s~orm sewer with one (1) red burnt brick manhole, capped with cast iron frame and cover, be constructed in the centerline of Eucalyptus Avenue from ~he southerly line Commercial Avenue, northerly at the places shown upon the plans hereinafter mentioned, and a~so that two (2) red burnt brick storm-w&ter catch-basins with cast iron frames and gratings be con- structed in the gutters, one at the northwest corner and one at the northeast corner of the intersection of Eucalyptus Avenue with Commercial Avenue, at the places shown upon said plans hereinafter mentioned, and that both such catch-basins be connected with the proposed storm-water manhole by the construction of ten (10) inch diameter vitrified salt-glazed ironstone sewer pipe at the locations faily shown upon the plans hereinafter re~er~ea Section 10. ;hat four (~} inch vitrified sal~-glazed ironstone pipe lateral or siae sewers be constructed on Chestnut Avenue at the places shown upon the plans hereinafter men- tioned, said lateral sewers to extend from the existing sewer in Chestnut Avenue to the westerly curb line. Ail work herein provided for shall be done in accordance with the special plans, profiles and specifications for said work and to the o~ficial grade shown upon said plans, pro~ites and specifications, which plans, ~rofiles and speci±'ications are entitled, "2lane, profiles and specifications for the construction of improvement work upon portions of Grand Avenue, Chestnut Avenue, Commercial Avenue, Eucalyptus Avenue, Orange Avenue, Railroad Avenue, the portion of l~e alley between Miller Avenue and Grand Avenue, from Spruce Avenue to Miller Avenue, and the portion of the alley between Grand Avenue and Baden Avenue, from Acacia Avenue to Orange Avenue, in the City o~ South San l~rancisco, County of San Mateo, State of California," which plans, profiles and specifications were heretofore adopted by said City Council on the 28th day of May, 1928, and are now on file in the office of l~he City Clerk, to which plans, proZiles and specifications re~erence is hereby made for a full description of said work and for the location and extent of the work to be done hereunder and for a particular description o~ t~e boundaries o£ the district herein mentioned, There is excepted, however, from the above mentioned work any aud all suc~ wor~: as has been already done to~ficial grade. Notice is herby given that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments ~and bear interest at the rate cZ seven (7) per certs per annum will be issued here- under in the manner specified in the ,Improvement Bond Act of 1915" and the amendments thereto, the last installment of which bonds shall mature (9) years from the 2nd day o~ July next succeeding ten (10~ months from their date. "The Enterprise and The South San ~ancisco Journal", a newspaper a general circulation, printed and published in said City of South San 2rancisco, is hereby designated as the newspaper in whic~ this resolution of intention shall be published, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to.cause this resolumion o~ intention to be published by two (2) insertions in the manner and form required by law. The SuperinSe~ent o~ Streets shall cause to be conspA~cious~y posted along t~e line of said contemplated wot2 or improvement, at not more thau Three Hundred (300) feet in distance apart, and along all the open streets within said district and in fromt of all l~e property liable to be assessed and not more th~n three hundred (~00) feet in distance apart, but not less than three (~1 in all in each street in. said district, notices of the passage of this resolution of intention, in the manner and form required by t~e "Improvement Act of 1911" and the amendments thereto. Notice is hereby given t~t on Monay, the 2nd day of July, 19E8, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M. in t~e Chamber of the City COuncil of the City of South San Erancisco,. any and all persons having any objections to the proposed wor~ and improvement may appear before said City Council ~nd show cause why said proposed improvement should not be carried out in accordance with this resolution. Except as hereinbefore provided, all of the herein proposed work shall be done in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of California, designated as the "Improvement Act of 1911", approved April ?, 1911, and the amendments thereto. -0-0-0-0-O-0-0-O-0-0- I here~y certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San ~rancisco, this 4th day of June, 19E8, by t~e following vote: Ayes, Councilmen A.
