McGovern has been a resident of South San ~rancimco for more than ~twenty-five ~251 years and served the people of SOuth San Francisco faithfully as a member of the Board of Trustees of said City for more than four years; and ~ ' WHEREAS Dr. McGov~rn has for many years materially aided in the improvement of the health of great numbers of the children of our community by per- forming dental work without compensation for his services; and WHEREAS Dr. McGovern, during the time our country was engaged' in the world war, gave dental services to soldiers and sailors without compensation, and in other activities during that period demonstrated his qualities of Amerigan p~triotism; and WHEREAS DR. McGovern, through his activities in the Chamber of Commerce of South San Francisco and in the South San Francisco Exchange Club, of both which organizations he has capably served as president, has assisted in the commercial development of this community and has helped to ma~e our city more suit- able to those seeking a place of residence; and WHEREAS Dr, McGovern has interested himself for twelve' years in the welfare of the boys of our county by serving on the executive board of the Boy Scouts during that time; and WHEREAS Dr. McGovern, as President of the Community Chest of South San Francisco since its organization, h~s devoted a large amount of time and energy to relief activites in South San Francisco, and has at all times been actuated by a broad spirit of humanitarianism; and WHEREAS Dr. McGovern is now servi~ as coroner and public ad- ministrator of San Mateo County and has therefore performed the duties of his office faithfully, efficiently and conscientiously; and WHEREAS Dr. McGovern, is, by education and experience, fullyr qualified and equipped for the duties of the office he now holds; RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that this City Council recon~ends to the electors of San Mateo County that Dr. McGovern be elected to the office of Coroner and Public Administrator, ,-.-,--,-,-.-,-,-.-,-,',-,- I hereby certify ~hat the foregoing resolution was regularl~ in- troduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Franciscg, this 21st d~y of August, 19~0; by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Noes, Councilmen Absent', Councilmen t S AZ V.
