Wtl.W~'EAS public interest and convenience require that the portion of Butler Road e:<tending from the easterly boundsry line of San Bruno ?icad in the City of South $an Francisco to the westerly boundary line of th~_~ fight of way of the Southern Pacific ?~ailroad Company be improved, as hereinafter specified: and WEE~S Western Pipe and Steel Company of Culifornia, a corporation, Edwards Wire Works, s corporation and ~utual Engineering Com]osny, a corporation, are willing to pay a portion of the cost of improving said portion of Butler Road, and eac~ of sat8 corporations is willing to pay the sum of Si×ty-~wo and 50/100 Dollars ($62.50) as its p~rt of the cost of the imrrove~ent of said Butler Road, and sata C:ity of 2outh San Fr~ncisco i~ '~,illi-o~-~ t b pay the rem~iuaer of the cost of such improvement; RESOLVED by the City Council of South 3an Francisco that said City of South Ran Francisco enter into an agreement with the corporations here- inbefore named whereby said City will agree ti improve the portion of Said Butler Ro~d hereinbefore mentioned, in the manner hereinbefore specified, upon the under- standiqg that each of said corporations will pay to said City the sum of ~i×ty-two and 50/100 Dollars ($62.50) when such improvement is completed. The improvement herein provided for shall be r~,erformed upon the portion of said Butler Road extending ei,~ht (8) feet on each side of the center line of said road from the easterly boundary line of San Bruno Road to the west- erly boundary line of the right of way of said Southern Pacific R~.ilroad Company. The specifications hereinbefore referred to are as follows: The existing road shall be broom swept clear of all dust and fine ~terial. All holes and d'e~ressions shall be filled With cr~hed ledge rock and an application of bitumuls added in order to even the surface. A tack coat con- sistin,-o of 1/4 gallon Bitumuls per square yard shall then be s~read· over the entire surface. Im~.ediately following the application of the tack coat, and while the Bitumuls still retains its brown color, base rock ranging in size from 1 inch to l~ inches, shaI1 be spread at the rate of ~o to 50 pounds per square yard. This surface of stone shall be carefully turned up with a broom-drag or other suitable equipment. It shall then be rolled over once, rolling progressing from side to center. A second application of Bitumuls shall ti~en be uniformly made at the rate of Z/8 gallon per s~uare yard. Immediately f~llowing the second apJolication of Bit'umuls, crushed ledge rock, varying in size from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch, shall be evenly spread over the surface. This whall be rolled mutil it is thoroughly locked and keyed to the bottom layer of larger rock. A third application of Bittm~uls is then added at the rate of 3/8 gallon per square yard and covered with a uniform layer of fine rock chips (birdseye). The surface Shall then be rolled until it is smooth, uniform and fully compacted. All work herein ~J, rovided for shall be performed to official line and grade and in strict accordance with said specifi,cations and under the supervision and to the satisfaction of such engineer or inspector as may be appointed by said City of South San Francisco to supervise the construction of said work. As a part of the agreement herein authorized, said City of South ?an Francisco shall agree with said corporations to keep said portion of Butler Road in a good state of repair for the period of five (5) years next following the date of the completion of s'~h im~J~rovement. The President of the City Council of said City and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed ~n the name of the said City' of South San Fran- cisco and under its corporate seal to exectue an agreement with said corporations, for the performance of said ~ork in accordance with this resolution. I hereby certify that the foregoing resol~tion was regularly in- troduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco this 2Tth day of ~ebr~ar,v, 1933, by the following vote: Ayes, Co~mcilmen V.
