WHEREAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco did, in open session, on the 3rd day of June, 1935, publicly, open, examine and declare all sealed proposals or bids for doing all the improvement work described in the resolution of said City Council adopted on May Vth, 1935, wherein it was declared that public interest and convenience require that the work hereinafter mentioned should be done,to which resolution of intention reference is hereby made; RESOLVED, that said City Council hereby rejects all bids or proposals for doing said work, except that next hereinafter mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for doing said work and improvement to the lowest responsible bidder, to-wit: Union Paving Company, a corporation, at the prices named in its bid, to-wit: Item A: For excavating and removing the existing broken wearing surface, the sum of Two (2) cents per square foot. Item B: For excavating and removing existing broken base pavement, the sum of Four and one-half (4 ~ cents per square foot. Item C: For furnishing and laying asphaltic concrete wearing surface two (2) inches thick, the sum of Five and 50/100 Dollars ($5.50). per ton. Item D: For furnishing and laying asphaltic concrete base pavement five (5) inches thick, the sum of Five and 50/100 Dollars ($5.50) per ton; Item E: For the burning and removal of charred materials from corrugated areas, the sum of Three (3) cents per square foot. For the furnishing_and laying of. asphaltic concrete wearing surface approximately five eighths (5/8) inch thick on burned areas, the sum of Six Dollars ($6.00) per ton. This award is made subject to the approval of the California Highway Commission and shall be void unless such approval is given. The work hereinabove referred to consists of the following: Repairing pavement on Grand Avenue between Mission Road and Linden Avenue, on Linden Avenue between Armour Avenue and Railroad Avenue, and on Railroad Avenue between Linden Avenue and a point 500 feet westerly therefrom. The work herein provided for shall consist of the removal of existing broken wearing surface and replacing the same with either an asphaltic wearing surface, or, as an alternate, with natural rock asphalt concrete wearing surface; The removal of the existing broken base pavement, the repair of the subgrade and the replacement of either asphaltic concrete base pavement, or, as an alternate, natural rock asphaltic concrete base pavement; the burning of corrugated areas, the removal of charred materials and the addition of either asphaltic concrete wearing surface, or, as an alternate, natural rock asphaltic concrete wearing surface. All said work shall be done to official grade and at the places shown upon the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by said City Council for doing said work, and strictly in accordance with the plans and specifications.
