HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 548-1936RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO ABATE '~fEEDS 1936 WHEREAS weeds are now growing upon the streets of the City of South San Francisco designated a s follows, to-wit: Armour Avenue from the westerly line of San Bruno Road to the easterly line of Olive Avenue; Aspen Avenue for the full length thereof; Pine Avenue from the westerly line of San Bruno Road to the westerly end of said Pine Avenue; California Avenue from the westerly line of Ssn Bruno Road to ~the end of California Avenue~ Lux Avenue from the westerly line of San Bruno Road to the easterly line of Maple Avenue; Miller Avenue from the westerly line of San Bruno Road to the easterly line of Chestnut Avenue; Grand Avenue from the westerly line of Maple Avenue to the east- erly line of Chestnut Avenue; baden Avenue from the ~esterly line of San Bruno Road to the easterly line of Chestnut Avenue; Commercial Avenue from the westerly line of Linden Avenue to the easterly line of Orange Avenue; Railroad Avenue from the westerly line of Linden Avenue to the easterly line of Orange Avenue; San Bruno Road from the northerly line of Commercial Avenue to the north boundary line of said city of South Sam Francisco, excepting all street and alley intersections with said San Bruno Road; Cypress Avenue from the north line of Baden Avenue to the south line of Armour Avenue, excepting all street and alley intersections with said Cypress Avenue; Linden Avenue from the northerly line of Commercial Avenue to the south line of Annou~ Avenue, excepting all street and alley intersections with said Linden Avenue; Maple Avenue from the north line of Railroad Avenue to the south line of Aspen Avenue, ex- cepting all street and alley intersections with said Maple Avenue; Spruce Avenue from the north line of Railroad Avenue to the northerly ~end thereof, excepting all street and alley intersections with said Spruce Avenue; Magnolia Avenue from the north line of Railroad Avenue to the eouth line of Miller Avenne, excepting all street and alley intersections with said Magnolia Avenue; Orange Avenue from the north line of Con~uer- cial Avenue to the south line of Miller Avenue, excepting all street and alley inter- sections with said Orange Avenue; Acacia Avenue for the full length thereof, excepting all street and alley intersections with said Acacia Avenue; Eucalyptus Avenue from the north line of Commercial Avenue to the south line of Miller Avenue, excepting all street and alley intersections with said Eucalyptus Avenue; Laurel Avenue for the full length thereof; Pine Terrace for the full length thereof; Walnut Avenue for the full length thereof; Lux Avenue from the west line of Maple Avenue to the east line of Spruce Avenue, excepting all street and alley intersections with said Lux Avenue; Park ~ay for the full length thereof, excepting all street and alley intersections with said Park Way; Olive Avenue for the full length thereof, excepting all street intersections; Juniper Avenue for the full length thereof; Randolph Avenue for the full length thereof; Chapman Avenue for the full length thereof; and Braden Avenue for the full length thereof, excepting all street and alley intersections with said Bradmn Avenue; the portions of A Street, B Street, C Street'and D Street extending southerly from the right, of way of the Southern Pacific Railroad~ Company, and the' portions of 1st Street, 2nd Street and 3rd Street extending ~westerly from said right of way, excepting all street intersections, with said A Street, B Street, D Street, 1st Street, 2nd Street and 3rd Street; and WHEREAS said weeds have attained such a large growth as to become a fire menace when said weeds shall become dry and are dangerous; RESOI~ ED by the City Council of the City of South San Fraucisco that the weeds growing on all the portions of the streets hereinbefore described be, and the same hereby are declared to be a public nuisance and that it is the intention of said City Council to order said nuisance to be abated; Said City Council hereby de~ermines and declares that said nuisance exists in front of the following described property, all of which is situate in the City of South San Francisco, County of San ~ateo, State of California, and particularly described as follows,~ to,wit: Block one hundred thirty-three (133), as shown upon that certain map entitled "Plat of Buckingham's Subdivision of Block 133, South San Francisco, Calif.", which map was filed in the office of the County Recorder of the County of San Mateo, Calif- ornia, April 1st. 1892, and recorded in Book 2 of Maps at page 53; block one hundred twenty-nine (1~9~; Lots one (1) and seventeen (1V) to thirty (30) inclusvie in block one hundred and thirty (130), as shown upon that certain map entitled "South San Fran- cisco~ San Mateo Co. There is also excepted from said streets and avenues the portions thereof from which weeds have been removed since the 15th day of April, 1935, and also the portions of said streets and avenues upon which, for any cause, weeds are not now growing. There is also ex- cepted from the land hereinbefore described all land in front of which the entire area betwemn the curb and corresponding property line is covered by a sidewalk, and also all land in front of which weeds have bee~' removed since the 15th day of April~. 1935, and all land in front of which weeds are not now growing and do not now exist. The Superintendent of Streets is hereby directed to cause to be conspicuously posted in fron of all property in front of which said nuisance exists, and not more than one hundred (100) feet in distance apart, but not less than three (3) in all, notices headed "Notice to Destroy Weeds" in the manner and form required by law. All of the herein proposed work of abating said nuisance shall be d~ne in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of ~he State of California entitled "An act authorizing municipalities, to declare noxious or dangerous weeds growing upon the streets or sidewalks, o~ upon private property within municipalities, to be a public nuisance, creating a lien upon the property fronting upor~ such streets or sidewalks, or upon which such nuisance exists for the cost of abating the same", approved l~lay ~6, 191~. -O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O- I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution of intention was r egula~ly in- troduced and adopted by the City Council of the ~ity of South San Francisco, this 6th day of May, 1936, by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen V.
