HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 596-1937RESOLUTION ORDERING A PURCHASE OF SEWER PIPE FOR A DRAIN FOR ORANGE AVENUE PARK IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND ADOPTING SPECIFICATIONS. RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that public interest and convenience require that a reinforced concrete pipe dx~In be constructed in and for Orange Avenue Park and through the right of way of the Valencia line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company in said City of South San Francisco, and the purchase of such sewer pipe as may be necessary for said work, in accordance with the specifications hereinafter mentioned. The specifications heretofore submitted by the 0ity Engineer of said city for said work are hereby adopted, and the city clerk is hereby ordered to file said specifications. The city clerk of said city is hereby directed to publish by two in- sertions in "The Enterprise and The SOUth San Francisco Journal", a newspaper of general circulation printed and publi.shed in said City of South San Francisco, the following notice inviting sealed proposals for such drain pipe and other materials. NOTICE INVITING SE~T.W.D PROPOSALS FOR FURNISHING REINFORCED CONCRETE DRAIN PIPE TO THE CITY OF SOUT~ SAN FRAN- CISCO FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BE- INFORCED CONCRETE DRAIN PIPE IN AND FOR ORANGE AVENUE PARK IN SAID CITY. Sealed proposals will be received by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco until 8:00 o'clock p. m. in Monday, the Bth day of Ap ril, 1937, for furnishing to said City of South San Francisco concrete drain pipe for the construction of a reinf~eed concrete pipe drain in Orange Avenue Park and through the right of way of the Valencia line of the Southern Pacific Railroad in said city. All of said pipe shall be in strict compliance with the requirements of the specifications ad~pted by the City Council of said city for such reinforced con- crete drain pipe on the 23rd day of March, 19~V, and now on file in the office of the city clerk of said city. The contract to be awax~ed shall contain a further stipula, tion ath the -'.co~t.x~actor, to whom such contrac$ may be awarded, shall use or supply only smch un- m~n,~,eactured articles, materials, and Supplies as may have been mined or prc~uced in the U~ted States and onl~ such manu~ac'tured arti~cles, materials, and sup plies as have been manufactured in the United States, substantially from all articl es, mater- lals or supplies mined, prodmced, 'or so manufactured, as the case may be', in the United States, excepting only where such articles, materials, or supplies of the class or kind to be used, or the articles, materials or supplies from which they are manufactured are not mined, produced or manufactured, as the case may be in the United States, as re- quired by an act of the Legislature of. the State of California entitled "An act to re- quire the use of materials and supplies substantially produced in the Uni ted States, in pulbic works and for public purposes"; Chapter 226 of the Statutes of California, 19~, The successful bidder shall, within ten (10) days, after the awa rd, enter into a contract with the City of South San Francisco for furnishing said s ewer pipe to said city. All proposals must be accompanied by a certified check upom'~a solvent bank in the State of California, payable to the City of South San Francisco,~.,in an amount not less than ten (10) per cent of the aggregate of the bid upon the condition that, if the proposal be accepted and the contract awarded and the bidder shall fail and neglect to execute a contract and give the bond required, the sum mentioned in said check shall be liquidated damages for such failure and negle~ and shall b e forfeited to and paid into the treasury of the City of South San Francisco. The bi dder to whom the contract is awarded will be required to execute a bond for the faithf ul performance of his work in an amount equal to fifty (50) per cent of the amount of th e undertaking with at least two (~) responAble sureties in the full amount of the bid each. Specifications and proposal sheets may be obtained at the office of George A. Kneese, City Engineer of said City of South San Francisco, at No. 2382 Broadway, Redwood City, California. Sealed proposals and bids will be delivered to said City of South San Fran- cisco on or before 8:00 o'clock p. m. on Monday, the 5th day of April, 19~V~ All proposals or bids will be opened by said City Council, in public session, on Monday, the 5th day of April, 193~, at the hour of 8:00,o'clock p. m. in the Council O]~maber of said City Council~ The City Co,mncil hereby reserves the right to reject any and all Bids.
