RESOLVED by the city council of the City of South San Francisco that public interest and convenience requi~e that said city should purchase a seven hundred and fifty (750) gallon capacity triple combination pumping engine. Said pumping engine shall confoEa with the specifications therefor filed in the office of the city clerk of said City of South San Francisco on the 14th day of AuguSt, 19~9, which specifications are hereby adopted for such pumping engine,, and to which spe~cifications reference is hereby m~dee The city clerk is hereby directed to publish by two '(2) insertions in UThe Enterprisea. a newspaper of general circulation published in said cit. y, the following notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for furnishing such pumping engine to said city o£ South San Francisco. NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR FURNISHING ONE 750 GALLON CAPACITY TRIPLE COMBINATION PUMPING ENGINE TO THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANC I SC 0. Sealed prqpo~als~ will be r. ecetved by the city council of the City of South San Francisco until 8.00 o'clock p. m. on Tuesday, the 5th day of September, 195~, for furnishing one seven hundred and fifty gallon (750) capacity triple combination pump- lng engine to the City of South San F~anclscoe Said pumping engine must be in strict compliance with the requirements of the specifications adopted by said City Council on 14th day of August, 1939, and~now on file in the office of the city clerk. The successful bidder shall, within five (5) days after the awa~i, enter into an agreement with said City of South San Francisco whereby said successful bidder shall lease such pumping engine to said City of South San Francisco for a term of fou~ (4) years at an annual rental equal to one-fourth (1/4) of the sum bid. Said agreement shall provide that said city shall have an option to purchase said pumping engine on or before the termination of said term ~ that the deferred installments of such rental shall bear interest at the rate of six (6) per cent per annum, payable annually. Each proposal must be accompanied with a certified check upon a solvent bank in the State of California, payable to said city of South San Francisco in an amount not less than ten (10) percent of the aggregate of the bid, upon the condition that if the proposal be accepted and the contract awarded, and the bidder shall fail and neglect to execute the contract, the sum mentioned in said check shall be liquidated dmages for such failure and neglect, and shall be forfeited and paid into the treasury of said City of South San F~ancisco. Sealed proposals or bids will be delivered to the city clerk on or before 8:00 o'clock p. m. on Tuesday, the 5th day of September, 1939. All sealed proposals or bids will be opened by said city council in public session on Tuesday, the 5th day of September, 19~9, at 8:00 o'clock p. m., in the council chamber of said city council.
