HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 764-1940#'?64 RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTHUCTION OF AN ADDITION TO THE PUBLYC LIBRARY BUILDING IN T}~E CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO. WHEREAS the city council of the City of South San Francisco did, in open lession, on the 17th day of June, 1940, publicly open, examine and declare all sealed ~propo.salS or bids for doing the following work in said city, to-wit: The construction of an additiona~o and alteration of the public library build. ing in the City of South San Francisco; RESOLVED by the city council of the City of South San Francisco that said citl council hereby rejects all said bids, except that next hereinafter mentioned, and hereb~. awards the contract for doing said work to the lowest responsible bidder, to-wit: Emil Person, for the sum of Twenty-Tour Thousand Two Hundred and Thirty-seEen Dollars ($24, ~37. O0 ). The~contract hereby awarded shall include the work provided for in Alternate No. 6 mentioned and covered in the proposal of said Emil Person, which work consists of the construction of a new storeroom in the basement, and the cost of performing said lal mentioned work is included in the sum of money last hereinbefore mentioned. Such contract shall, among other things, provide as follows: If work or materials are furnished to a greater or lesser extent than is con- tmmplated by said drawings and specifications, such work or materials will be furnished .or omitted, when and where required by the architect hereinafter mentioned, or said citl council, at the following rates: 1. Excavating, includf_ng all shoring and backfilling, Two and 50/100 Dollars ($2.50) per cubic yard; 2. Concrete, including all forms, Eighteen Dollars ($18.00) per cubic yard; 3. Reinforcing steel, an average price to include all sizes involved, five cents (5~) per pound. The contractor, to whom said contract is awarded, shall agree to use material~ produced in the city of South San Francisco, so far as they may be available for prices not in excess of those for which such materials may be obtained elsewhere in the State -California. Whenever such materials may not be obtained in said City of South San Fran. said contractor agrees to use materials produced in the County of San Mateo for said wo: provided if such materials may be obtained for prices not in excess of the prices for which such materials may be obtained elsewhere in the State of California. ~aid contractor shall also agree, in said contract, to employ for performance of the labSr required under said contract, qualified persons residing within said City of South San Francisco, so far as they may be available at the prevailing wages require~ to be paid by said contractor. All work herein provided for shall be performed strictly in accordance with plans and specifications adopted for said work and now on file in the office of the citl clerk of said city, and under the supervision and to the satisfaction of Henry H. Guttes the architect employed by said city to supervise said work.
