R,~SOLUTION CALLING FOR BIDS FOR THE ?URCHASE OF STEEL RAIL~
RESOLV~E~ by the city council of the city of south San Francisco that it will
be for the benefit of said city to sell One Hundred (100) tons, mcr or less, of steel
rails, heretofore imbedded in the pavement on Grand Avenue in said citye
the city clerk is hereby directed to publish by three (3) insertions in "The
Enterprise", a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in said city
of South San l~'rahcisco, the following notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the
purchase of the said quantity of steel rails:

OR BIDS FOR PURCHASING 100 TONS
OF STEEL RAILS FR0.~.~ ~E CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
Sealed proposals will be received by the city council of the City of South San
Francisco until 8:00 o'clock p. m., on ~?.onday, the 6th day of October, 1941~ for the
purchase from said city of One Hundred (100) tons, more or less, of steel rails, which
were formerly imbedded in the pavement on Grand Avenue in said city. Delivery of said
steel ra~s will be made on or near Grand Avenue in said City of So~th San Francisco,
to the sflccessful bidder.
The contract for the purchase of said steel rails will be awarded to the
hi,est bidder therefor in cash, to be paid by the successful bidder to said city
within t~n (10) days from the date on which a contract may be awarded by said city
council ~ursuant to this notice.
All sealed proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a c~eck payable to the
City of South San Francisco, certified by a responsible bank in the State of Califor-
nia, for~an amount which shall not less less than ten (10) per cent of the ag(~regate
of the p~oposal. If the proposal be accepted and the contract awarded and if the
bidder shall fail and. neglect to execute a contract for the purchase of said steel
rails, afld give to said city the certified cD. eck, all as herein required, the sum
mentioned in said c~eck shall be liquidated damages for such failure ar~l neglect
and shall be forfeited to and paid into the treasury of the city of South San
Franc is cb.
The bidder, to whom the contract may be awarded, will be required to deliver
to said ?ity of South San Francisco a check payable to said city, certified by a
responsible bank in the State of California, for an amount which ~mll not Be less
than ten' (10) percent of the amount to become payable by such successful bidder.
The smouflt of said last mentioned check shall be liquidated damages in the event
of the f~llure of such successful bidder to take delivery of said quantity of steel
rails and to pay for the same in full within a period of ten (10) day~ following the
date on which a contract for the purchase of the same may be awarded by said city
council, and, in the event of such failure to pay such entire purchase price
therefor~ the amount of said last mentioned check shall be forfeited to and paid
into the treasury of the said Cit~ of South San Franciscg.
Sealed proposals or bids will be delivered to the city clerk on or before
8:00 o'clock p. m. on ~.,~Ionday, the 6th day of October, 1941.
All sealed proposals will be opened by the city council in public session
on ~.~.onday~ the 6th day of October, 1941, at 8:00 o'clock p. m. at the Council
Chamber of said city council.
Said city council reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
