RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO ABATE WEEDS

WHEREAS weeds are now growing upon the streets of the City of South San Francisco
designated as follows, tow~t:
Armour Avenue from the westerly line of Bayshore Highway to the easterly line of
Olive Avenue; Aspen Avenue for the full length thereof; Pine Avenue from the westerly line
of Bayshore Highway to the westerly end of said Pine Avenue; Califox~nia Avenue from the
westerly line of Bayshore Highway to the end cf California Avenue; Lux Avenue from the
westerly line of Bayshore High~ay to the easterly line of Maple Avenue; Miller Avenue from
the westerly line of Bayshore Highway to the easterly line of Chestnut Avenue; grand Avenue
from the westerly line of Maple Avenue to the easterly line of Chestnut Avenue; Baden Ave-
nue from the westerly line of Bayshore Highway to the easterly line of Ohestnut Avenue;
Commercial Avenue from the westerly line of Linden Avenue to the easterly line of Orange
Avenue; Railroad Avenue from the westerly line of Linden Avenue to the easterly line of
Orange Avenue; Bayshore Highway from the northerly line of Commercial Avenue to the north

thereof, excepting all street intersections; Juniper Avenue for the full length thereof;
Chestnut Avenue between Commercial Avenue and Grand Avenue; Palm Avenue for the Full length

for the full length thereof; Arden Avenue for the full length thereof; Belmont Avenue for

WHEREAS said weeds have attained such a large growth as to become a fire menace when
said weeds shall become dry and are dangerous;
RESOLVED by the' city council of the City of South San Francisco that the weeds grow-
lng on all the portions of the streets hereinbefore described be, ~ the same hereby
are declared to be a public nuisance and that it is the intention'of said city council to
order said nuisance to be abated;
Said city council hereby determines and declares that sad nuisance exists in front
of the following described property, all of which is situate in the city of South San Fran-
cisco, County of San Mateo, State of California, and particularly described as follows,to-wit:

All lots fronting upon Hillside Boulevard, Arden Avenue, Belmont Avenue, Cla~emon~
Avenue, Drake Avenue, Edison Avenue, Franklin Avenue, Grove Avenue, Highland Avenue,
Knoll Circle, Fairway Drive, Southwood Drive and West Orange Drivee
There is excepted from the streets and avenues hereinbefore described, all paved
portions thereof and all sidewalk areas and areas of existing driveways which are
covered with concrete or other sidewalk material. There is also excepted from said
streets and avenues the ~ortions thereof upon which, for any cause, weeds are not now
growing, or from which weeds have been removed prior to the date of the passage of
this resolutione 'There is also excepted from the land hereinbefore described all land
in front of whtc~ the entire area between the curb and corresponding property line is
covered by a sidewalk.
The superintendent of streets is hereby directed to cause to be conspicuously posted
in front of all property, in front of which said nuisance existsj and not more than one
hundred (100) feet in distance apart, but not less than three (3) in all, notices headed
"Notices to Destroy ~weeds", in the manner and form required by law~
All the herein proposed work of abating said nuisance shall be done in pursuance of
an act of the Legislature of the State of California entitled "An act authortzi~ng muni-
cipalities to declare noxious or dangerous weeds growing upon streets or sidewalks, or
upon private property within municipalities, to be a public nuisance, creating a lien
upon the property fronting upon such streets or sidewalks or upon which such nuisance
exists for the cost of abating the same", approved May 26,
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted
by the city council of the city of South San Francisco, this 18th day of May, 1~2, by
the following vote:
