RESOLUTION TO GIVE GAS TAX ALLOCATION C0~IITTEE OF THE PHNINSULA
DIVISION OF THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES A DEFINITE REPRESENTATIVE
POSITION IN CONT~SPLATED APPLICATION TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
FOR THE CITY'S SHARE IN THE STATE GASOLIONE TAX SUBVE~TION.
WHEREAS the Legislature of the State of California at its 1941 session enacted a
statute requiring Boa~dsof Supervisors to accord to cities within t~eir respective counties
hearing on an application thereof for a s~are of the subvention of One cent (l~) per gallon
of gasoline tax, and
WHEREAS the California State Supervisors' Association at its annual convention
at Hollywood, California, in ~s~ · 1941, adopted a resolution recommending that Boards
of Supervisors tD_roughout the state make some equitable division of suc~ gas tax funds
with the cities within their respective counties, and
WREREAS the population of t~e twelve cities in this county is 85% or more of
the population of the county, and the gasoline taxes paid by residents of said cities
constitute approxtmtely the same percentage of gasoline taxes paid within this county,
and it is fair and equitable for the Board of Supervisors of this county to apportion
and allocate to said cities on a population basis a share of the county's one cent
(l~*. subvention from the State of California.
NOW, THEREOFRE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the Committee of~ the Peninsula Divf sion of the League of California
Cities on the Apportionment of County Gasoline Taxes to the Cities be and it is
hereby authroized to represent this city in its e~forts to secure from the Board
of Spervisors of this county a fair and equitable apportionment of such gasoline
taxes as the county receives during the fiscal year 1942-43 and subsequent years.
