0RDERZNG THE SUSPENSION WITHOUT PAY 0F U. S. MARS]iALL, CITY
ENGINEER AND SUPERITENDE~T 0F STREETS, AND FURTHER ORDERING
DELIVERY OF STATEMENT OF INTENTION TO DISCHARGE.
RES0ZVED, by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, California, that
WHEREAS, U. S. Marshall, City Engineer and Superintendent of Streets of the City
of South San Francisco, on April 20, 1942, was granted a leave of absence by the City
Council and has now returned and reported for duty;
WHEREAS, it appears to the council that said City Engineer and Superintendent of
Streets has shown a lack of good engineering Judgment and foresight on certain projects
done under his direction and supervision, which are to the "detriment of' th~ city;
~, the city council intends to discharge said Eity Engineer for cause; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2, Rule. XIII of the Personnel Rules and
Regulations of this City, the Council ~ends to deliver to said Engineer a written
statement~ of the reasons for his intended discharge.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ITEREBY ORDERED that said U. S. Marshall, be, and he is here-
by, suspended without pay from the office of City Engineer and Superintendent of
Streets of the City of South San Francisco for the good of the public servi.ce because
of his lack of good engineering Judgment and foresight on projects done tuxier his
direction and supervision, to the detriment of the city, and for other good and
sufficient reasons t~e exact nature of which will be communicated to said e4gineer
in the written statement aforesaid.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that said written statement and notice of inten~ioD to dis-
charge said City Engineer from said offices, together With the reasons therefor, be
delivered to him

the city council of the city of South San Francisco, California, at a regular meet-
ing thereof held on the lB day of February, l~5,.by the following vote of the members
