RESOLVED by t~e city council of the city of South San ~rancisco tnat pubIic in- terest and convenience requi~e t~e following public inprovement work to be done in said city, to-wit: Th~ construction of a storm water sewer in Edison Avenue southerly from the northerly line of Randolph Aven~ue and across Hillside Boulevard to the nearest creek south of said Hillside Boulevard. All said work shall be done at the location shown upon the plans hereinafter mentioned and.strictly in accordance with the plans and SPecifications heretofore submitted by the l~orks Engineer of said city for said work and hereby adopted for said work. All 'said work and the materials used in connection t~erewith shall be furnished under the direction and to the satisfaction of the Works Engineer of said city. It snell be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded, and upon any subcontractor under him, to pay not less than the specified rates to all laborers, worWm*n or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract. The contractor shall forfeit as a penalty to the City of South San Francisco Ten Dollars ($10.00for each laborer, workroom or mechanic employed, for each calendar day' or portion thereof, such laborer, workman or mechanic is paid less than the said stipulated rates for any work done under said contract, by him, or by any subcontractor . 'under him. And such contract shall contain a stipulation to this effect, in accordance W~th the provisions of Chapter 397 of the Statutes of California, 1931. No bid will be accepted from any contractor who has not been licensed in accord- anco with the provisions of an act of the Legislature of the State of California entitled: Man act providing for the registration of contractors, and defining the te~m contractor, providing the method of obtaining licenses to engage in the business of contracting, and fixing the' fees for such licenses; providing the method of suspension and cancella- tion of such licenses; and p~escribing the punishment for violation of the provisions of this act.M Chapter 791 of Statutes amd Amendments of 1929, as amended. NOTICE IS FURTHER HEREBY GIVEN that no contractor or subcontractor or agent or representative' thereof shall knowingly employ or cause or allow to be employed on the work herein provided for any alien, except in cases of extraordinary emergency caused by fire flood, or danger to life or property~ The contractor or subcontractor to-whom a contract for said work may be awarded shall forfeit as a penalty to the City of-South San Frar~isco Tern Dollars ($10.00) each alien knoWingly employed in the execution of such contract, for each calendar day, or portion thereof, during which such alien is permitted or required to labor in violation of the provisions of Article 4 of the Labor Code of the 3tate of Californta~ A pro- vision to this~ effect shall be inserted in suc~ contr$ct. The contract must be entered into in compliance with and subject to the conditions imposed by Article 3 of t~e Labor Code of the State of California.
