WHEREAS
a grave war situation now faces California, with problems of wartime production, reconversion,
and planning for post-war employment, and .
there must be the closest unity and co-operation among our citizens in order tp prevent internal
discord and its jeopardizing effect on these wartime problems, and
certain interests have introduced on the ballot and initiative proposition with the misleading
title of the ~Right of Employment", and
this proposition actually is a dangerous and strife creating measure, adroitly worded in an effort
to mix-represent its actual purposes and deceive the voters into voting favorably on the proposit-
ion, and
this proposition will not guarantee any right to the worker not now guaranteed by the constitutions
of California or the United States, and
this proposition will in no way,.~create any additional Jobs for the working people of California,
and
this proposition actually will create strife and unrest between employers and emPloyees, and will
actually cause a serious crisis in the matter of meeting current and post-war problems, now
therefore be it
RESOLVED that in the interests of continued wartime and post-war harmonF between employers and employees,
this City of South Sa~ Fn~ncisco he~y goes on record as b$ing opposed to the so-called
"Right of Employment" proposition, and be it further
RESOL~ that this body hereby urges all citizens of San Mateo County and of the State of Galifornia to
vote "NO" on this proposition, which is Proposition No. 12 on the election ballot of November 7, 1944.
