RESOLUTION ~.iENDING SECTION 1,2, and 3 of
RULE IVA, SLC£ION ~ of RULE VII and SECTION
1 CF RULE X OF THE I~'ERSONNEL RULES
REGULATIONS OF THE CI't~Z OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISC 0.
RESOLVED by the City Council of ~the City of South San Francisco as follows:
Section 1 of Rule IVa of tile Personnel Rules and Re~iations of the City of Sout~
San Francisco is ~ereby amended so tilat said Section 1, as amended, shall read as follo~
Sec. 1. No person shall 0 e eligible for an appointment as a policeman who is und~
the age of twenty-one (21)'years, or who is over t~e age of forty (40) years, or is less
tl'~n five ($) feet nine (9) inches in height, or weigj~s less t~an one hundred sJ~ty-five
(10S) pounds, stripped.
Section ~ of Rule IVa of said Personnel Rules and Re~lations of the City of Scut
San Francisco is _hereby amended so tz~at said Section ~, as ~ended, shall read as feller
Sec. ~, No person shall be eligible for appointment as a fireman who is under t~
age of twenty-one (al) years, or is over the age of forty (~0) years, or is less tzuan
five (5) feet seven (?) inches in height, or weighs less than one hundred fifty (150)
pounds, stripped.
Section 3 of Rule IVa of said Personnel Rules and Re~lations of the City of
South San Francisco is hereby amended so tiuat said Section 3, as amended, saa!l read as
follows:
Sec. 3. No person shall be eligible for appointment in the competitive service
who has not boen a bona fide resident of t~-~ City of South San Francisco for three
years next preceding t~e date of filing his applications.
Section 2 of Rule VII of said Personnel Rules and Re.~lations of the City of Scut
Sar. ~rancmsco is .~ereb~ amended so t~uat said Section 2, as amended, shall read as follo~
Sec. 2. "DURATION 0F E~PL0~,~E~ LISTS": Employment and promotional lists shall
become effective upon t~e approval thereof by the Boar~ of Review ~mad upon its cer-
tification that the list was legally prepared and represents the relative rat!ns of the
names appearing th.ereon. Emplo~uuent and promotio?_al lists si~ll remain 'in effect one
year. Names of !ayed off employees st~all be restored to the l~ead of t.~e employment
list in t±'~e order of seniority and as they originally appeared thereon.
Section 1 of Rule X of said Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of South
San ?rancisco is hereby sm~ended so t~at said ~ec~ on 1, as amended, s~alt read as follo~
Sec. 1. "Vacations": Vacation leave with pay shall be grouted each per~uanent
employee, who has been in the competitive service for one (1) year continuously, at the
rate of one work day for eaca montf~ of service in each year. If per~anent appointment
is received, after t~e e×~iration of the entrance probationary period, vacation time ma~
be allowed for time s~rved in probation status. Earned vacation s±~all be be acc~m~la~
in excess of 18 work days e~cept t~at, upon reco~m~endation of the supervising official
and consent of the City Co~n~cil, earned vacation n~ay be acc~umulated to not more than ~
~ays. In computing vacations all municipal holidays shall be deducted and Saturdays s~
count as a whole day. fhe time at w~_ich an employee s~ll take his vacation shall be
determined by the supervising official with due regard for t~e wis~es of t~ae employee
and particular regard for t~e needs of t~e service.
