HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1004-1945Rs. # 10o VACATING AND SETTI~G ASIDE BID OF EATON AND SMITH FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SEWER AND PL~IP PLANT WHEREA~ the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, pursuant to a notice inviting sealed proposals for the work hereinafter mentioned, did, in open session, on the llth day of October, 1944, open, examine and declare all sealed proposals for the following public improvement work in said city: UNIT A: 1. A line of vitrified clay pipe outfall sewer, ~with manholes, along the easterly side of San Bruno Road, from the existing eighteen (18) inch outfall sewer at Colma Creek to the existing eighteen (18) inch outfall sewer, approximately nine hundred fifty (950) feet north of Tanforan Avenue, at its intersection with San Mateo Avenue. UNIT B. 1. A line of vitrified clay pipe outfall sewer, with manholes, from t~e existing manhole in San Bruno Road, approximately nine hundred fifty (950) feet north of Tanforan Avenue and San Mateo Avenue, southerly along San Bruno Road and San Mateo Avenue to Tanforan Avenue, thence easterly to the pumping plant hereinafter provided for; 2. A control manhole and one hundred fifty (150) feet of thirty (~ inch diameter pipe overflow sewer; 3. a reinforced concrete pump house and pumping plant with screen chambers, bar screen, sewage pump, electrical equipment, control apparatus, pipes, valves, fittings and all necessary appurtenances; 4. A twenty (20) inch dian~er cast iron pipe force main, extending from said proposed pump house and pumping plant to a point near the confluence of Navigable Slough and the Bel Air Shipyard turning basin, near the northeasterly corner of Bel Air Island. 5. A twenty-one (21) inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe main extending from said proposed pump house and pumping plant to a point near the confluence of NavigableSIough and the Bel Air Shipyard turning basin, near the northeasterly corner of Bel Air Island, which said concrete pipe force main may, at the option of said city council, be constructed in the place of the cast iron pipe force main provided for in the preceding paragraph 4 of said Unit B; 6. A surfaced road from San Mateo Avenue to said proposed pumping plant; and WH~EREAS, on the 30th day of November, 1944, Said City Council adopted a certain re- solution wherein said city council accepted the bid submitted for said work by Eaton & Smith; and WHEREAS, in said resolution, it is provided as follows: "This award is made upon the condition that the United States of America, through its Navy, shall enter into au agreement with said City of South San Francisco and said City of San Bruno, a municipal corporation in the County of San Mateo, State of California, in which the United States of America will agree to contribute the sum of $45,400.00 toward t~e pro- Ject for the construction of said outfall sewer and ,~ther construction work ~nnected there- with."; and WHEREAS the United States of America, through its Navy, has refused to enter into au agreement with said City of South San Francisco and said City of San Bruno, in which the United States of America will agree to contribute said sum of $45,400.00 toward t~e project for the construction of said outfall sewer and ot~er construction work connected therewith; RESOLVED by t~e city council of the city of South San Francisco that said resolution, in whic~ the bid of said Eaton & Smith was accepted by said city council, as aforesaid, be, and the same hereby is vacated and set aside. I hereby certify that the foregoing ~resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the ~ci~y council of the city of South San Francisco this 21st day of ~ay, 1945, by the following vote: Ayes,~ Councilmen V.
