HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1016-194548 RESOLUTION NO. 1016 RESOLUTIOf~ OF A¥~ARD WHF~{EAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco did, in open session, on the hth day of June, 19~, publicly-open, ~xamine and declare all sealed proposals for doing the work hereinafter mentioned; RESOLVF~D by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that said City Council hereby rejects all said sealed promosals, except that next hereinafter mentionei, and hereby rejects all portions of the proposal of ~cGuire and Hester, excerpt the portion~hereof which is an offer to perform the work hereinafter specifically mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for doing only the work hereinafter mentioned to the lowest responsible bidder, to-vrit: }~cGuire and Hester, at the mrices named in their bid and hereinafter set forth. All the work, for which a contract is hereby awarded to said McGuire and Hester, consists of the fo llovring: The const~ction of an outfall sewer, force main and s~wage pumping plant, in said City of South San Francisco. The following are the pric~s n~r~ed in said bid of ~cGuJre and Hester for the work for which a contract is hereby awarded: Three (3) concrete manholes, complete with cast iron frames and covers, including one drop ma~ole, ~320.00 ~ach; Crushed rock support for sewer, in place, ~2.00 per ton; Twenty-seven (2?) inch diameter vitrified clay pipe s~wer, $10.00 per lineal foot; Thirty-six (36) inch diameter vitrified clay pipe sewer, ~13.75 per lineal foo~; Twenty-seven (27) inch diameter Hune procer:s concrete pipe, in place, complete, ~8.85 per lineal foot; Eighteen (18) inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe force r~in, complete y~th twenty-four (2~) inch by eighteen (].8) inch Y branch., and two (2) inch tide gates, $8.~O per lineal foot; Forty-two (h2) inch diameter corrugated steel casing jacked under Bayshore H~ighway, complete in place, ~75.00 per lina~l foot; Thirty (30) inch diameter concrete pipe sewer, complete with thirty (30) inch tide gate, .~$10.00 per lJ neal foot; Pile bents, complete as per detafl, ~175.00 each~ One (1) control manhole, complete, ~1250.OO; ConStruction of r~ad~ray ~o pumping plant, and filling ~umping plant site, complete, ~3750.00; Excavation for pump house and screen chamber ~8000.00~ Construction of Class "A" concrete pump house and screeU chamber structure, complete, per cubic ~rd; ~rnishin~( and installing all sewage pumps, motors~ electrical equipment, automatic bar screen, piping, valves, fittings, control ap~aratus, v~rin~, lightinE, and all incidental work to completely equio the same for the operation of the pump house, ~11,~00.00; Fencinff for pumping plant site, complete with 12 foot gate, :~780.00. Payment for the work above mentioned shall be made in the following manner: As the construction of said ~mrk progresses, the Works ~ngineer of said city shall, not later tha~ the tenth day of each month following the com~encement of said work, make an es+.imate of the value o? the work performed by said ~eGuire and Hester during the preceding month, based u~on said ~mit prices, and file his certificate to that effect vrith the City Clerk and deliver to said ~eGuire and Hester a duplicate thereof. Thereupon, the City Council shall ~uthorize the payment of seventy-five (7~) per cent of the amount payable, as shown by said certificate. On expiration of thirty-five (3~) days after the completion of sa~d work, as evidenced by the final certificate of said Vforks Engineer, acid McGuire and Hester shall be entitled to receive the rem~ainder of the sum of money which shall become payable on account of the performance of said work. Representatives of the United States of America shall, at all times, have access to the work during constr~ction add shall be furnished with every reasonable facility for ascertaining full knowledge for inspacting the progress, work~nanshi~o and character of the materials employed in said work. All said work shall be done strictly in accordance with the ~lans and specifications adopted for said ~rk on the 21st day of }~hy, 19~, by said City Council, and ~mder the supervision and the satisfaction of the Works Engineer of said c~ty. The contract for said work shall be entered into a strict accordance with the provisions of said plans and specifications and the provisions of th~s res©]ution. This award is made ~mon the express condition that all priorities for the acquisition of all materials necessary for said project can be obtained from the ~¥ar Production Board and upon the further condition that said City of South San Francisco v~.ll be able to acquire a right of way from the United States of America for the portion of said project to be constructed in property of the United States of America, as shoran on ssid plans. The contract hereby awarded shall contain the express condition that said MeGu~re and Hester, a cop'~rtnersbip, as contractor, in perform~ng work under such contract, shall not d_~scriminate against any emplo',ee or apr. licant for e~?loyment because of race, creed, color o~ ~otional origin. Said contract- tot shall include an identi cal provision ~n all of its contracts. For the p~r~ose of this s.-~ction, sub- contracts shall include all purchase orders a~d agreements to perform all or any part of the work or to make or furnish any article re~u~ ire~.d for the performance of this contract, e~cept purchase orders or agre~:m~ents for the furn~shing of standard c on~nercial articles of raw materials. The mayor and city clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute the contract hereby au~Borized.
