VfHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the State Employeeg'Retirement Act, there has been
submitted to the Cit~ Council of the City of South San Francisco a form of proposed contract, wherein
provision is made for participation in the State I~ployees' Retirement System by the groups of employees
of said city, in said contract mentioned;
NOW, THERE.WORE, pursuant to the provisions of Section 38c of said State F~ployees' Retirement Act,
said City Council hereby calls 'an election to be held to enable each of the groups of employees herein-
after mentioned separately to express its approval or disapproval of said proposed contract.
The groups of employees hereinbefore mentioned are the Following: ~lremen, policemen, and enployees
other than policemen and firemen.
The election herein provided for shall be held between the hours of 9 o'clock a. m. and ~ o'clock
p. m., on the 30th day of July, l~, in the office of the City Clerk of said city.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to mail to each employee in each of the above mentioned groups
of employees a notice in a-~ealed envelope, with postage prepaid thereon, which notice shall be sub-
stantially in the foil&wing form:
NOTICE OF ~PLOYEES' ELECTION
Notice is hereby ~.ven that an election will be held in the office of the City Clerk of the City
of ~outh San Francisco on t.~onday, the 3Otb day of July, 19h~, between the hours of 9 o'clock a. m. and
~ o'clock p. m. to permit the employees of said City of South San Francisco, in the groups mentioned
in the form of proposed contract heretofore submitted to said City Council, to participate 'in the State
Employees' Retirement System to express their approval or disapproval of said proposed contract. At
said time and said place ali. er~ploye~s in said groups may cast their ballots secretly for said purpose.
A majority~of the ballots cast in each group will determine whether the members of that group shall
participate in said State ~nployees' Retirement System.

Said City Clerk is hereby direeted to provide a separate ballot box for eac!~ of said groups and
also a polling booth w?~erein each member of each said group may secretly n~rk the ballot to be cast by
him.
Before any member of any one of said groups may be permitted to receive a bollot, he shall first
sign his nane and record his address in an appropriate registration book, which shall be provided by
the City Clerk for that p~npose.
The City Clerk shall have mharge .of the conduct of said election.
At the hour of ~ o'clock p. m. of s~aid day, said City Clerk shall declare the ballot .to be closed.
Said City Council shall assemble in the ~ouncil Chamber in the City Hall of said city, at the hour of
? o'clock p. m. on the 30th day of July, 19[~, for the purpose of canvassing the votes which shall be
cast by said employees. All bollot boxes, with .the ballots deposited therein, shall be produced Oy said
City Clerk before said City Council. Thereupon, all ballots so cast s.hall, in open session of said
City Council, be opened, examined and declared. ~ record of the vote cast by said employees shall be
made by said City Clerk and shall be entere~ in the minutes of said City Council. Thereupon, said 8ity
Council shall ascertain, from the votes so cast, the group or groups whic~, have approved said form of
contract, and the result of such election.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City
Council of the City of ~outh San Franc~.sco this ~th day of July. 19~, by the following vote:
