HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1062-1945 WHEREAS,' for a large number of years last past, a number of ranchers have been engaged in raising hogs in First Township, in San Mateo County, and, in the course of their operations, have permitted and caused great quantities of Filth to enter into ~lma Creek and Baden Creek, which streams pass through South San Francisco;$nd WHEREAS large portions of that filth settles in the portion of Celma Creek in South San Francisco and produce unsanitary conditions and a stanch, which offend a large number of the residents of South San Francisco, and constitute a serious nuisance in said city and disturb the comfort of many people living in South San Francisco and that filth attracts great swarms of flies to residential areas in the vicinity of Colma Creek; and WHEREAS said 8ity Council has been informed that a considerable n~nnber of those hog ranchers have been conducting their operations without the licenses required by law, and have applied for, or are about to apply for licenses for the operation of their respective ranches; and WHEREAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco is fully convinced that those hog ranchers, through utter disregard for the unsanitary conditions which they are cuasing in South San Francisco, intend to and will operate their ranches in such manner as to continue unsanitary conditions in and along the course of Colma Creek and Baden Creek and will c~tinue to offend a large humbler of the residents of the City of ~outh San Francisco, if Licenses are granted for the operation of their ranches; THER~EFORE, RESOLVED by the City Council ef the City of South ~n Francisco that this City Council protests the issuance of any license to any hog ranchers, whose land lies within the watershed of Baden Creek, and requests that the Beard of Supervisors ref~se to grant any permit for s~ch license or licenses. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of th~s resolution be sent to the Beard of Super- visors of the County of Sa~ Marco and that a copy thereof be ~ent to the ~eunty Executive of said County ef San Mateo. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of South ~n Francisco, held ~his 5th day of Nuvember$ 1945, by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Victor Boido, G.
