ORDERING WORK
(COMMERCIAL AVE. EXTENSION)
R_~OLVED, that, whereas the City Council of the City of South Snn Francisco did, on the 10th da)
of February, 1947, pass its resolution of intention No. 1189 to order improvement work described in said
resolution to be done in said city, which resolution of intention was duly and regularly published, as re-
quired by law, as appears from the affidavit of~vra R. SpanEler, now on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said city; and
WHEREAS notices of the passage of said resolution of intention No. 1189 were duly and regularly
posted along the line of said contemplated work and improvements and in front of all the property liable
to be assessed therefore, and along all the open streets within the district in said resolution of intenti
described, in the manner and form required by law, as appears from the affidavit of Henry L. Schweining,
Superintendent of Streets of said city, now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said city; and
~EREAS copies of said resolution of intention were, on the lath day of February, 1947, mailed bi
the City Clerk to all persons who, according to the information and belief of said City Clerk, were th~n t~
owners of all the property proposed to be assessed to pay the costs of said work, in the manner and form rt
quired by the "Improvement Act of 1911", as appears from the affidavit of Daniel J. Hyland, the City Clerk
of said city; and
WHEREAS no protest or objection against said work has been received by said City Clerk or by said

City Council at any time;
NON, THEREFORE, RESOLVED that public interest and convenience require the improvement work described in said
resolution of intention to be done and said City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby orders said work to be
done, to wit: the improvement of Commercial Avenue in said City of South San Francisco from the westerly line of Chestnut
Avenue to the easbe~y line of Oak Avenue by grading for pavement and the construction of a five inch (5") water-bound
macadam base with two and one-halX inch (2~") asphaltic concrete wearing surface, thirty-five feet (35') in width and the
construction of concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks.
Said City Council hereby ascertains that the general prevailing rates of perdiem wages and the general
prevailing rates for legal holiday and overtime work applicable to said work to be done as follows are:

underground, psve~ent breakers, jackhammer, vibrators and all air gas and
electric tools, l~ading and unloading, carrying and handling all rods and
materials for use in reinforcing concrete construction.

Overtime to be time-and-one-half for tLme over eight hours, and on Saturdays, and double time on Sundays.
Monthly rates are to be equal to the above, based on a 176-hour working month.
The following are to be considered holidays: New Year's Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Admission Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to post a notice of said work, together wSth~he plans and specifications
on or near the council chamber ~o~r, inviting sealed proposals for doing the work ordered. He is also directed to
publish a notice inviting sealed praposals and referring to the specifications posted or on file, by two insertions
in "The ~terprise", a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said City of South San Francisco and hereby
designated for that purpose.
! hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was ~egularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of
the City of South Jan Francisco, this 8th day of March, 19~7, by the following vote:
