~LOCATE WIGWAG AT WEST ORANGE AVENUE
WHEREAS the City of South San Francisco and Southern Pacific COmpany and Southern
Pacific Railroad Company enter®d into an indenture hearing date january 8, 1926, in which said
city was granted the right to construct and maintain a highway upon and across two parcels of
laud situate in the County of San Mateo, State of California, containing an area of 4@00 square
feet in connection with the improvement of crossings at Third Street and 0range Avenue in the
City of South San Francisco, which document was recorded August 17, 1926, in ¥olume 247 of
Official Records at page 4S2 in the office of the Coumty Recorder of said County of San Mateo,
and said city now desires to widen and improve the above-mentioned crossings within the area
described in said instrument; and
~HE~ it is necessax-y to relocate the automatic wigwag signal at the inter-
section of Orange Avenue with the Southern Pacific Railroad and to install metal guard tall
at said intersection;
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that said city
enter into an agreement between Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, and-its' lessor, Southern
Pacific Railroad Company, a corporation, wherein said corporations will agree to do the work
of relocating said automatic wigwag and the installation of one hundred thirty-two (132) lineal
feet of metal guard rail and wherein said city shall agree to pay the cost of relocating said
automatic wigwag and pay for said metal guard rail and the cost of paving the widened portions
of the intersections referred to in said indenture, dated January 8, 1926, and likewise the
expense of maintaining flagmen upon said premises to protect tnd safegua~ property, movement
of engines, trains, and cars while said~ work is being done. Said city ~,~11 deposit with said
two corporattond the sum of Eight Hundred Fifty Dollars ($8§0.00), being the estimated cost of
said work.
The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed, under the name of
said city and under its seal to execute the agreement hereby authorized.
The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to draw a warrant
upon the treasurer of said City, payable to said two corporations in said amount of Eight
Hu~dred Fifty Dollars ($850.00).
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and
adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, this 15th day of October
1947, by the following vote:
