A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ~IPLOYMENT OF LESLIE C. IRWIN, AS AN
ARCHITECT FOR THE FIREHOUSE TO BE CONSTRUCTED AT EL CAMINO REAL
AND DEE PASO DRIVE IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that LESLIE C. IRWIN be, and he
hereby is employed as an architect to prepare the preliminary studieS,~ working drawings, specifications, large
scale and full-sized detail drawings, forms of proposals and contracbs, the issuance of certificabes in pay-
ment, ~o keep accounts and to administer the business and supervision of the work of constructing a firehouse
at E1 Camino Real and Del Paso Drive in the City of South San Francisco. Said city shall enter into an agree-
ment with said LESLIE C. IRWIN in accordance with this resolution.
For his services as such architect, said LESLIE C. IRWIN shall receive compensation in an amount
equivalent to eight (8) percent of the cost of the work, said percentage to be understood as the basic ~ate.
Payments to said Leslie C. Irwin, on account of his fee, shall be made as follows:
Upon completion of the preliminary studies, a sum equal to twenty (20) percent of the basic rate
computed upon a reasonable estimated cost.
Upon completion of specifications and general working drawings (exclusive of details) a sum
sufficient to increase payments of the fee to seventy-five (75) percent of the 'rate or rates of commission
arising from the payment hereby authorized, computed upon a reasonable cost estimated on such completed
specifications and drawings, or if bids have been received, then computed upon the lowest bona fide bid or bids.
From time to time during the execution of work, and in proportion to the amount of service rendered
by the architect, payments shall be made until the aggregate of all payments made on account of the fee under
said contract shall be a sum equal to the rate or rates of commission arising from said agreement, computed upon
the final cost of the work.
Payments to said LESLIE C. IRWIN, other than those on his fee, shall fall due from time to time
as his work is done or as costs are incurred.
No deductions shall be made from said architect's fee on account of penalty, liquidated dam-ges, or
other sums withheld from payments made to contractors.
The Mayor and the dity clerk are hereby directed, in behalf of said city, to execute the agreement
hereby authorized.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City
Council of the City of South San Francisco, this 21st day of February, 19~9, by the following vote:
