HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1445-1949RESOLUTION NO. 1445 ~EREAS the Buri Buri addition to the City of South San Francisco is situate on the westerly sic of E1 Camino Real in said city and more than 2,000 persons reside on said property m~d more persons continue t¢ come to reside there; and WHEREAS Arroyo Drive is the principal entrance from said tract of land into E~ Camino Real, and large numbers of persons, residing in said tract of land have daily ingress to and egress from said tract of land at the intersection of Arroyo Drive with E1 Camino Real; and T.~EREAS at least 26,000 automobiles travel on said E1 Camino Real each day past the entrance of said Arroyo Drive, some of which travel at lawful rates of speed and others travel at a ~eed greatly in excess of the rate of speed established by law and endanger the lives of persons crossing E1 Camino Real at its intersection with Arroyo Drive; and ~EREAS a very large number of pedestrians, residing in said tract have occasion each day to cro~ C · E1 amino i~al at Arroyo Drive, in order to enter automobile buses for transportation to San Francisco; and ~HEREAS the Buri Buri School, now under construction, will be used by children from other parts of the school district and also as a place for adult activities by persons reside outside of the Buri Burl Tract; and !~EREAS the intersection of Arroyo Drive with said E1 oanuno ~eal is at the crest of the hill, where visibility of northbound drivers and southbound drivers traffic is gimited; and 1~EREA£, by reason of the absence of automatically controlled traffic signals at said intersectio many automobile accidents have occurred, resulting in injuries to persons and property; RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the Department of Public ~orl Division of Highways, of the State of California, be requested to install and maintain automatic traffic control signals at the intersection of E1 Cmnino ~qeal and Arroyo Drive, in order to safeguard persons traveling from the Buri Burl Tract across E1 Camino Real as well as persons traveling in both directions on E1Camino Real. The City Clerk is hereby directed to send a copy of this resolutions to the Division of ~ighways. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco on the 9th day of ~ay, 1949, by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Victor Boido, Chas.
