RESOLUTION NO. 1482
A RF~OLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION
FOR THE ANNEXATION OF THE UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY
KNOV~ AS COU~RY CLUB PARK TO THE CITY OF SOUTH
SAN FRANCISCO.
WHEREAS the city c~uncil of the City of South San Francisco has received a written petition, which
written petition has been signed by more than one-fourth (1/~th) in number of the qualified electors residin~ in the
territory hereinafter described,as shown by the registration of voters of the County of San Marco, State of ~alif-
ornia, asking that the territory hereinafter described be annexed to the City of South San Francisco, a municipal
corporation, in the County of San Marco, State of California, and that said city council take the steps required
by that certain act of the legislature of.the State of California entitled: "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE ALTERATION
OF THE BOUNDARIES OF AND FOR THE ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY TO MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS, FOR THE INCORPORATION OF SUCH
ANNEXED TERRITORY IN AND AS A PART THEREOF, AND FOR THE DISTRICTING, GOV-~LNMENT AND MUNICIPAL CONTROL OF SUCH
ANNEXED TEPRITOR~', Statutes of 1913, page 587, as amended, and to sub~bit to the electors residing within said territory
the question whether such territory shall be annexed to, incorporated in, and made part of said City of South San
Francisco, and to do all such other things as may be necessary under said act to effect the annexation of such territory
to said City of South San Francisco;
The territory hereinbefor~ mentioned and referred to consists of all that certaim tract of land situate
in the County of San Mateo, State of California, and contiguous to the boundary line of said City of South San Francisco
and is described as follows:
BEGINNING at the southerly corner ~f Lot 18, Block C as shown on the map entitled "Map No. 1, Country
Club Park", recorded in Book 23 of Maps at pages 5&, 55 and 56, San ~.~teo County Records; thence along the southwesterly
boundary of said Country Club Park, North 31° 15' ~est 280 feet; thence South 58° dS' West 50 feet; thence North 31°
15' West 330 feet; thence North 16° 02' East 530.81 feet; thence North 31° 15' West 320.81 feet to the westerly corner
of Lot 8, Block H, Country ClubPark; thence along the northwesterly boundary line of said Country Club Park, North
58° dS' East 330 feet; thence South 31° 15' East 60.90 feet; thence north 58° 45' East 890 feet to point in the north-
westerly line of Lot 2, Block F, Country Club Park, which is also an angle point in the corporate limits boundary of
the City of South San Francisco; thence along said Corporate Limits Boundary, North 31° 15' West d20.17 feet; thence
South 60° 30' ~est 298.75 feet; thence South 75° 00' West 150 feet; thence South 59° 00' West 220.00 feet; thence
South 86° 20' ~est 63 feet; thence South 53° 00' West 100 feet; thence South 31° 57' West 192.9d feet; thence North
85° 58' West 182.93 feet; thence South 77° 52' 30" West 180.63 feet; thence North 31° 15' West 270.10 feet to a point
on the southeasterly boundary line of the lands of the California Golf Club, said point also being an angle point
in the said Corporate limits boundary; thence North 55° G7' 30" East, alon~ said southeasterly boundary line of the
lands of the California Golf Club to the easterly corner of said lands; thence continuing along the boundary of said
lands of the California Golf Club, North 39° 25' ~5" West 770/97 feet and North 50o 00' 30" East 532.37 feet to a poin~
in the southerly boundary of Lot 2~8, as ~hown on the map entitled '~outhwood Map No. ~" recorded in Book 2~ of Maps
at page ~0, San Mateo County records; thence along the southerly boundary of said Southwood No, 3 easterly along a
curve to the left with a radius of 1&75 feet to a point in the southerly line of Lot 23~ as shown on said m~p of
Southwood No. 3, which point in the beginning of a course bearing South 86° 58' East; thence along the boundary of
said Southwood No. 3, South 86° 58' East ~2 feet; thence North 85° 56' 30" East 63.50 feet; thence North 82° &9' 10"
East 150 feet to the southeasterly corner of said Southwood No. 3, which point al~o lies in the westerly line of
property belonging to the City and County of San Francisco; thence along said easterly line of property belonging to
the City and County of San Francisco, South 7° 10' 50" West 20&.8~ feet to a point on the southwesterly prolongation
of the southeasterly line of Southwood Commercial Tract, as shown on the map recorded in Book 25 of Maps at page dO,
San Mateo County Records; thence North 55° &2' 10" East along said southwesterly prolongation and southeasterly line of
Southwood Commercial Tract to a point in the southwesterly line of E1 Casino Real, which point is also the southeaster-
ly corner of said Southwood Commercial Tract; thence southeasterly along said Southwesterly line of E1 Cami~o Real to
the easterly cormer of the aforementioned Country Club Park; thence South 58° dS' West 2825 feet ~o the point of be-
ginning.
AND, WHEREAS notice of intention to circulate ~a petition for the annexation of the unincorporated
territory known as Country Club Park, as hereinbefore mentioned, to the City of South San Francisco ~as published in
The South San Francisco Journal, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City of South San Francisco on
the 20th day of May, 19~9; and .
~.~EREAS, by a resolution entitled:
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TH~ CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DECLARING ITS INTENTIO~ TO CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION
FOR THE ANNEXATION OF THE UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY KNOWN AS COUNTRY CLUB' PARK TO THE CITY OF SOUTH SA~ FRANCISCOw,
adopted by said city council on the 25th day of July, 19&9, in. which resolution the unincorporated territory herein-
before referred to was described and was .designated a~ "Country Club Park", notice was given that on Monday, the 15th
day of August, 19~9, at. the hour of 8 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chamber in the City Hall of said City of South San
~Francisco, in the City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo, State of Calif. ornia, any person owning real
property within the territory hereinbsfore described and proposed to be annexed, and having any objections to the
proposed annexation might appear before said city council and show cause why such territory should not be so annexed;
and
~EREAS a copy of the last mentioned resolution was publishe~ by three ~3) insertions in The South San
Francisco Journal, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published in said City of South San Francisco, there
being no newspaper of general circulation published in said territory propose~ to Oe annexed to said City of South San
to Said City of South San Francisco;
The territory hereinbefore mentioned and referred to consists of all that certain tract of land situate
in the County of San Marco, State of California, and contiguous to the boundary line of said City of South San Francisco
and is described as follows:
BEGINNING at the southerly corner Of Lot 18, Block C as shown on the map entitled "Map No. 1, Country
Club Park", recorded in Book 23 of Maps at pages 5&, 55 and 56, San ~.~teo County Records; thence along the southwesterly
boundary of said Country Club Park, North 31° 15' ?Vest 280 feet; thence South 58° &5' West 50 feet; thence North 31o

Southwood No. 3, which point in the beginning of a course bearing South 86° 58' East; thence along the boundary of

East 150 feet to the southeasterly corner of said Southwood No. 3, which point also lies in the westerly line of
property belonging to the City and County of San Francisco; thence along said easterly line of property belonging to
the City and County of San Francisco, South 7° lC' 50" West 20&.8~ feet to a point on the southwesterly prolongation
of the southeasterly line of Southwood Commercial Tract, as shown on the map recorded in Book 25 of Maps at page
San Mateo County Records; thence North 55° &2' lC" East along said southwesterly prolongation and southeasterly line of
Southwood Commercial Tract to a point in the southwesterly line of E1 Caaino Real, which point is also the southeaster-
ly corner of said Southwood Commercial Tract; thence southeasterly along said Southwesterly line of E1 Camino Real to
the easterly cormer of the aforementioned Country Club Park; thence South 58° &5' West 2~25 feet to the point of be-
ginning.

adopted by said city council on the 25th day of July, 19&9, imwhich resolution the unincorporated territory herein-

WHEREAS, at no time, has any person made or offered any objection to the annexation of said territory
to said City of South San Francisco;
NO'S, THEREFORE, resolved by t~e City Council of the City of South San Francisco as follows:
Section 1. A special election is hereby called and shall be held within s~id territory proposed to be
~exed to said City of South San Francisco, hereinafter described and designated as "Country Club Park", on Tuesday,
the 20th day of S~ptember, 19d9, for the purpose of submitting and at which there shall be submitted to the qualified
electors residing within said territory proposed to be annexed to said City of South San Francisco, the question
whether said territory shall be annexed to, incorporated in, and made a part of said City of South San Francisco.
Section 2. The manner of holding said special election and of voting thereat for and against said
question and proposition whether said territory shall be. annexed $o and incorporated, in said City of South San
Francisco shall be as follows:
The voting precinct within said territory and the place at which the po~ls~ will be open~,for such election
in said territory, so propose~ to be annexed, is Brown's Garage at No. 223 Fairway.
Said election shall be conducted by officers of election, who shall be, for each of said precincts, one
(1) inspector and two (2) judges, each of whom shall be a qualified elector of the voting precinct in which he is
appointed to act as an officer of said election.
In said Country Club Park Precinct, the inspector shall be Ada B. Brown and the judges shall
be Josephine Rovetta and Betty Elizabeth Donohoo.

At said special election, the polls shall be open at the hour of seven o'clock a. m. on the
morning of said election and shall be kept open until the hour of seven o'clock p.m. in the afternoon of the
same day, when said polls shall be closed.
A sufficient number of allots shall be, ~nd is hereby directed to be, prepared and caused to
be printed for said precinct, as provided for by law and upon the proper kind of paper, to wit:
The same as used at the general elections in the State of California, by the City Clerk of the
City of South San Francisco and to be furnished and provided for the use of the voters in said special election
at the expense of the City of South San Francisco, and shall have the following matter printed thereon~ in
addition to such other matter as may be required by law, to wit:
"A special election submitting to the qualified electors of Country Club Park, in the County of
San Mateo, State of California, the following proposition, to wit:
"Shall Country Club Park ~e annexed to the City of South San Francisco?
For Said proposition: Shall.Country
Club Park be annexed to the City of
South San Francisco?
'YES,

"Any voter who desires to vote in favor o~ said proposition and to accept such proposition may do
so by stamping a cross (X) in the voting square on the righthand margin of the ballot, after and opposite the
work 'YES' and after said Ballot shall be so stamped and deposited in the ballot box, it shall be canvassed and
counted as provided by law as a vote in favor 8f subh proposition and accepting the same.
"Any voter who desires to vote against said proposition and to reject said proposition may do so
by stamping a .cross (X) in the voting square on the righthand margin of the ballot~, after and opposite the word
'NO' and after said ballot shall be so stamped and deposited in the ballot box, it shall be canvassed and counted
as provided by law as a vote against such proposition and rejecting the same."
Section 4. The manner of voting for and against said proposition for the annexation of Country
Club Park to the City of South San Francisco shall be as follows, to wit:
Any voter who desires to vote for and in favor of said proposition to annex said Country Club Park
to said City of South San Francisco, as aforesaid, and to accept said proposition, may do so at said special
election, as stated in said form of ticket, by stamping a cross (X) in the voting square in the righthand margin
of a ballot received from one of t~e aforesaid ~lection officers, after and opposite the wor~ "YES" and after
said ballot shall have been so stamped and deposited in the ballot box, it shall be canvassed and counted as re-
quired by law as a vote in favor of such proposition, and accepting the same.
Ahy voter who desires to vote against said proposition to annex said Country Club Park to said
City of South San Francisco, as aforesaid, and to reject such proposition, may do so at said special election,
as stated in said form of ticket, by stamping a cross (X) in the votin~ square in the righthand margin of a
ballot received from one of the aforesaid election officers, after and opposite the word "NO" and after said
ballot shall have beenso stamped and deposited in the ballot box, it shall be canvassed and counted as
required by law as a vote against said proposition, and rejecting the same.
Such marking or stamping of said cross (X) on said ballot shall be done only with the stamp, which
with the necessary pads ana ink shall be provided for the booth in said polling place.
Section 5. All persons qualified, at the time of holding said election to vote at general
elections or entitled by law governing said special election, shall be qualified to vote at said special election.
Section 6. The city clerk is hereby directea to publish notice oi' said special election for four
(4) weeks in the San Bruno Progress, a newspaper of general circulation printed in the City of San Bruno, in
~.said County of San Mateo, but outside of said City of South San Francisco, in the manner and form required by
law.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced ~nd adopt, ed by the city
council of the City of South San Francisco this l~t~ day of August, 19~9, by the following vote:
