A RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE IMPROV~ENT OF
SOUT H LI~ AVENUE
WHEREA~ the City Council of the City of South San Francisco did, in open session
on the 20th day of September, 1949, publicly open, examine and de~lare all sealed proposals
or bids for doing the work described in Resolution of. Intention No. l~B4, adopted by said
city council on the 16th day of August, $949;
RESOLVED that said city council hereoy rejects all said proposals er oids except
that next hereinafter mentioned, and hereby awardsthe contract for said work to the lowest
responsible bidder,, to-wit; L. C. SMITH COMPANY, a corporation, at the price named in its
cid, to-wit:

Said city council hereOy directs .that the sum of Forty Thousand Dollars
($40,000.00), the same being a part of the gas tax fund, which said city ~as agreed, and
hereby agrees, s~all be contributed towar~ the costs of the work provided for in said
resolution of intention, shall be paid to the contractor, to whom the contract for said work
is awa~ied, by progressive payments as follows: At the expLration of each thirty (~0) days
following the date of the contract for said work, the works engineer of said city shall cer~
to said city council the value of the work performed by the contractor, according to the un~
prices hereinbefore stated. Thereupon said contractor shall be entitled to receive ninety ~
(90%) of the value of ~e work so performed. Upon the completion of sa~d work, to the satin,
tion of the superintendent of streets of said city, said contractor shall be entitled to
receive the remainder of said sum of Forty Thousand Dollars ~$40,000.00). The total amount

The city clerk is hereOy directed to post a notice of this award conspicuously
five (5) days on or near the council chamber door of this counsel, ~daXso to publish said
notice by two (2) insertions in The South San Francisco Enterprise, a newspaper of general
circulation published and circulated in said City of South San Francis co.
