ROGERS, FOR THEIR SUCCESSMJL EFFORTS IN ORGANIZING A?.D CONDUCTING A "S!,~IM FOR KIDS" NEET AT THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO BEACH. '~JEHEAS FRED ROGERS organized and conducted a swimming meet, a "Swim for Kids", at the South San Francisco Beach on Sunday, August 17, 1952;and ~.~EEEAS said event provided an opportunity for active participation by our youth in the recreational and healthful sport of swimming, and, in addition, provided much entertainment for many spectators; and ~'~EREAS such activities are ~o be co~nended and encouraged because theY contribute greatly to the general welfare ~and betterment of our community, - NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does cmnmend Fred Rogers for his efforts in planning, promoting, and successfully donducting said swimming meet and that the sincere and heartfelt appreciation of this City Council and of all the people of South San Francisco be extended to him for the wonderful contribution he has made to the development of wholesome recreational act- ivities in our community. BE IT ~HT~ERRESOLVED that the commendation and the appreciation of this City Council be extended to Mrs. T. ROGERS, ~he mother of FRED ROGERS, because of hew cooperation and assistance in making said event a success. Likewise, this City Council does hereby thank the businessmen and all others who contributed their efforts and time to the conduct of said recreational activity. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly intorduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco this 6th day of October, 1952, by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Adolp~ Sani, Joseph Bracco, Telford Smith, Emilio Cortesi Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilmen John Noonan Attest: Arthur A.
