HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1833-1952RESOLUTION NO. 1833 ~ ~ESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ORDk~IUG CERTAIN P~rBLIC ~0RK AND II~PROVEME~r A- LONG SPRUCE AVENUE BET:~EN RAILROAD AVENUE AND COLMA CREEK IN SAID CITY, TO-WIT, THE CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE CURBS AND GUTTERS, AND STREET PAVEMENT CONSISTING OF CRUSHER-RUN BASE AND PLANT-MIXED SURFACE, AND'A SIDEWALN ALONG THE WEST- ERLY SIDE OF SAID SPRUCE AVF~UE, BE~¥EEN SAID RAILROAD AVES~JE AND COL~A C}U~EK. ~EREAS the City C~uncil of the City of Soutn San Francisco did this day approve and adopt plans and specifications for the performance of certain public work and improvement along Spruce Avenue bet- ween Railroad Avenue and Colma Creek, to-wit, construction of concrete curbs and gutters, and~ street pavement donsisting of crusher-run base and plant-mixed surface, and a sidewalk along the westerly side of said Spruce Avenue, between said Railroad Avemue and Colma Creek, which plans and specifications are on file with the city clerk of said city; and '~EREAS said city council did also this day determine and establish a wage scale for ~he perfor~nce of such work, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by said city council that public interest and convenience require the performance of such work and said city council hereby orders that the workand improvement, as set forth and described in said plans and specifications, be done and made. Said city council does further order that all said work and improvement will be done under the direction ct' C. E. RANDLETT, Works Engineer of the City of South San Francisco, and that the materials used in connection therewith shall comply with the specifications and be to the satisfaction of said Works Enginesr. BE IT~THER RESOLVED by said city council that the city clerk of the City of South San Francisco is hereby directed to publish, by two successive insertions in the South San Francisco ENTERPRISE JOUHNAL, a weekly newspaper M~blished and circulated in said city, a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the construction of said improvements, and referring to the plans and specifications on file in the office of said city ~ler, the first of which publication shall be at least ten (10) days prior to the time fixed for Opening bids. ' Ail proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a certified cheek payable to the order of said city, amounting to ten (10) percent of the bid, or by a bond in said amount and payable to said city, signed by a ~orporate surety or by the bidder and two sureties who shall justify before any officer competent t~ ad- minister an oath, in double said amount and o~er and above all statutory exemptions. Said check shall be forfeited or said bond shall become payable to said city in case the lowest responsible bidder depositing the ssme does not, within the time specified in said plans and specifications enter into a contract with the Works ~'ngineer of the City of South San Francisco, the faithful performance of which shall be assured by an undertaking in the amount of fifty(~O) percent of the amount so bid, with sureties satisfactory to this city council, and which shallbe accompanied by a labor and material bond in a sum equal to fifty (50) per- cent of the amount of said bid, under t he provisi~'~ns of Title 1, Oivision 5, Chapter 3 of the Government Code. Said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered to the city clerk of this city on or before four o'clock p.m. of the 5th day of November, 1952, in the council chambers of said city council of the City of South San Francisco at the city hall on Grand Avenue in said city, said time being not less thanten (10) days from the time of the first publication of said notice. Bids will be publicly opened, ex~mined, and declared at said time and place. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly intorduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, this 22nd day of October, 1952, by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen -Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi, Joseph Bracco, Telford Smith Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilmen John Noonan Attest: Arthur A.
