HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1909-1953City Clerk RESOLUTION NO. 1909 RESOLUTION DIRECTING PUBLICATION OF NOTICE Ii~VITING SEALED PROPOSALS AND FIXING DATE OF HE~J{ING THEREON FOR LMPROVD~ENT OF SECOND LANE FROM CH~TNUT AVENUE TO EUCALYPTUS AVENUE. RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, California, that WHEHEAS the said City Council, on the &th day of May, 1953, did adopt Resolution of Intention No. 1881, to order the construction of storm drains, gutters, catchbasins, man- holes, and p vement along Second Lane from Chestnut Avenue to Eucalyptus Avenue, reference to which resolution of intention is hereby made for further p~rticulars; N~I, TH]~EFORE, the city clerk of the City of South San Francisco is hereby directed to publish, by two (2) successive insertions in the SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ENTERPRIS~JOU~AL, a weekly newpaper published and ciruclated in said city, a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the construction of said improvements, and referring to the plans and specifica- tions on file in the office of said clerk, the first of which publications shall be at least ten (lO) days prior to the time fixed for opening bids. All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a certified check payable to the order of said city, amounting to ten percent (10%) of the bid, or by a bond in said amount and payable to said city, signed by a corporate surety er by the bidder and two sureties who shall Justify before any officer competent to administer an oath, in double said amount and over and above all statutory exemptions. Said check shall be forfeited or said bond shall become payable to said city in case the lowest responsible bidder depositing the same does not, within the time specified by law, enter into a contract with the works engineer of said city, the faithful performance of which shall be assured by an undertaking in the amount of fifty percent (50%) of the amount so bid, with sureties satisfactory to said City Council and which shall be accompanied by a labor and material bond in a sum equal to fifty porcent (50%) of the amount of said bid, under the provisions of Title I, Division 5, Chapter 3 of the Government Code. Sealed bids or proposals will be received by the City Council of theCity of South San Francisco at the office of the city clerk of said city, City Hall, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California, or at~e Council Chambers of said city at said location at any time on or before 8:O0 p.m. on ThurSday, the 23rd day of July, 1953, said time being not less than ten (10) days from the time of the first publication of said notice.
