A BESOLUTION OF THE CITY C0UN~IL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO AMENDING ~ ESTAHLISm~ PERSONNEL ~3~.~ AND
REGULA~O~ OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO.
~, By Resolution No. 907 of the City'Council of the City of South San Francisco, adopted
on 'July 19,' 19~3, there was added to the "Established~ Personnel Rules an~ Regulations" of said City, which
were ~riginally a~opted by said City Council on the l~th day of Febr,~ary, 1943, Section 3 of RULE IVa
(entitled: "AGE AND HEIGHTS BE~ - ~,~-~A'-.: OF RESIDENCE OF APPLICANTS"), which, among'other things,
specified that each applicant for appointment in the competitive service of said City shall have been a resident
of said City for a specified period of time prior to filing application; and
"' Wm~%F2~S the present prior residence requirement, as establishe~ by Resolution No. 13~], passed and
adopte~ by Said City Council on the 17th day of May, 1948, amending Section 3 of said RULE IVa, is eighteen
(18) months; and
~, although prior residence is a matter which should, on all occasions, be taken into
consideration by the appointing authority, it is deemed advisable, and in the ~est interests of the City of
South Sam Francisco, and of the taxpayers and residents thereof, that the requirement of pri~r residence be
eliminated from the aforementioned EstaBlished Personnel Rules and Regulations because, in rummy, instances,
to adhere to such requirement renders it impossible to obtain the best qualified employees as members of the
Civil Service or Competitive System of said City,
N(~, 'A~.m~m~)RE, BE I T RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that Section
3 of said P~LE IVa be, and the same is hereby ordered, stricken from said RULE IVa.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City
Council of the City of South San Francisco at an adjourned meeting held on the 10th day of Jan:tory, 19~ by
the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIIREN Andrew Rocca, Francis Lucchio, Richard Ga=leu, and Telford Smith.
