A RESOLUTION OF TEE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF SO~TH SAN FRANCISCO
PROVIDING FOR TEE EXECUTION OF AN AGR~m~ENT ~ SAID CITY AND
PARKWOOD METHODIST CON~4UNITY CRU~CR AND ST..~E~ONICA'S CATHOLIC
CHURCH ~ SAID CITY AGREES TO PROVIDE FIRE PROTECTION TO SAID
CHURCHES
~EEREAS PARKWOOD MET~IST CON~4UNITY C~JBCN and ST. VERONICA'S CA~GEIC CRUTCH ( The Roman Catholic
Archbishop of San Fran$isco, a c ~.o?poration sole) are the owners of certain properties which are located outside
the boundaries of the City of South San Francisco, but which are located immediately adjacent thereto; and
I~EREAS many of the members of both said churches are citizens and residents of the City of South San
Francisco; and
WEEREAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco deems it in the best interests mud ~lfare
of the people of the City of South San Francisco that said members of said churches, and the property thereof,
should be protected and that fires near the city.~oundaries should be controlled and extinguished; and
WHEREAS Said ~Churches ~.~re deSirouS'of e~tertng into ~contracts with said cit~ of South San Francisco
whereby said City will agree to furnish necessary fire protection to said churches, provided, however, that said
City shall not at the same time be Jeopardizing any person or property living or lying within said City,
NOW, 'I'nEHE~ORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby
determine that it is advisable to enter into contracts to provide fire protection, for said PARKWOOD METHODIST
CO~$~iTY CEE and ST. VERONICA'S CATHOLIC C~J~CH until such time as either said City or said churches, respecti~
shall terminate said contracts by giving thirty (30) days' advance ~i'tten notice to that effect. In this
connection, the Mayor of said City is hereby authorized to execute au agreement to provide such fire protection
for said churches upon the foregoing terms, and the City Clerk' is hereby directed to affix thereto the corporate
seal of said City.
I hereby certif~y that the foregoing resolution w~s regularly' introduced, and adopted by the City Council
of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 21st day of February, 1955, by the following
vote:
AYES: COUNCII2~EN Andrew Rocca, Francis Lucchio, Emilio Cortesi, Richard Gamlen, and Telford Smith.
