HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2180-1955RESOLUTION NO. 2180 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO WISHING FRANK STOUT AND JEANNE STOUT SUCCESS IN THE INTERNATIONAL YACHT RACES TO BE HELD AT FLEETWOOD, ENGLAND. WHEREAS FRANK STOUT and JEANNE STOUT, of No. 11Tunitas Avenue, City of South San Francisco, have been selected to represent the United States of America, the defending champion, at the English Open Model Yacht races and the International Model Yacht races which~ are to be held on August 7th and August 14th, at Fleetwood, England; and WHEREAS said FRANK STOUT and JEANNE STOUT, along with their yacht "THE MAGIC", have been undefeated in Class "A" competition and have won both Pacific Coast and national titles; and WHEREAS the yacht "THE MAGIC" is a new conception in model yachting and was designed and constructed by said Frank Stout as the ultimate in model yacht design; and WHEREAS said JEANNE STOUT is the first woman during the fifty-five-year history of the international races to participate in these races; and WHEREAS the participation of said FRANK STOUT and said JEANNE STOUT in the international races is the culmination of two years of difficult and painstaking labor and planning~ on their part, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that said FRANK STOUT and JEANNE STOUT be congratulated for achieving the honor of representing the United States at the International Model Yacht races at Fleetwood, England. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the best wishes of this City Council and the people of the City of South San Francisco be, and they hereby are, extended to FRANK STOUT and JEANNE STOUT for success in the international races. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the Official Minutes of the City Council and that a parchment copy thereof be forwarded to FRANK STOUT AND JEANNE STOUT. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 1st day of August, 1955, by the following vote: AYES, COUNCILMEN NOES, ABSENT, " Andrew Rocca, Francis Lucchio, Emilio Cortesi, Richard Gamlen, Telford Smith.
