HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2314-1956RESOLUTION NO. 2314 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY'COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY FROM JOHN THOMPSON. WHEREAS JOHN THOMPSON is the sole owner of that certain parcel of real property situate in the City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo, State of California, and particularly described as follows: Lot 1, Block 135, as shown on that certain map entitled "SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO PLAT NO. 1", re- corded in the office of the County Recorder of San Mateo County on March 1, 1892~ in Book "B" of Maps, at page 6, a copy of which map is re- corded in Book 2 of Maps at page 52; and WHEREAS said JOHN THOMPSON has offered to convey to the City of South S~n Francisco marketable title in and to said real property upon payment of the sum of TWELVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($12,500.00); and WHEREAS it is deemed to be in the best interests of said City and of the citizens thereof that said City acquire said property for said sum of money, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that said City shall purchase the aforedescribed real property for said sum of TWELVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($12,500.00), provided that said JOHN THOMPSON is ready, willing, and able to convey to said City marketable title thereto. The purchase of said property and the acceptance of said Grant Deed are hereby ordered. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a warrant shall be drawn upon the City Treasurer, payable to ~he order of S~n Mateo County Title Company, in said sum of TWELVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($12,500.00), which warrant, along with a certi- fied copy of this resolution and appropriate escrow instructions, shall be forwarded to said title company to be delivered to said JOHN THOMPSON at such time as said title company is prepared (1) to record a Grant Deed conveying to said City marketable title in and to said real property and (2) to issue its policy of title insurance insuring in said City such marketable title. A policy of such title insurance shall be obtained at the expense of said City. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco held on the 20th day of February 1956, by the following vote: AYES, COUNCILMEN: NOES, ABSENT, " : Andrew Rocca, Franc~s Lucchio, Emilio Cortesi, Richard Gamlen, Telford Smith.
