HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2326-1956RESOLUTION NO. 2326 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO REQUESTING AND URGING THE BOARD OF DERECTORS OF JOINT HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. l0 TO UNDERTAKE IMMEDIATELY ALL NECESSARY STEPS IN ORDER TO EFFECT THE INCLUSION OF JUNIPERO SERRA BOULEVARD~THIN THE STATE HIGh;AY SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA WHEREAS Joint Highway District No. 10, being comprised of the County of San Mateo and the City and CoUnty of San Francisco, is a Joint Highway District organized pursuant to the provisions of Sections 25,000, et seq. of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California for the purpose of constn~cting Junipero Serra Boulevard (and certain connecting, or feeder, streets, of which public highwayextending southerly through the County of San Marco from its northerly limits; and WHEREAS, because said Junipero Serra Boulevard, a substantial portion of which has been constmActed prior to the date hereof, constitutes a very important highway route for traffic between the County of San Mateo and the City and County of San Francisco, and between various other points, it is very necessary and highly desirable, as being in the public interests, that said Junipero Serra Boulevard, together with Hickey Boulevard, which connects said Junipero Serra Boulevard with E1 Camino Real in the City of South San Francisco, be included within the State Highway System of the State of California; and WHEREAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco earnestly desires that Joint Highway District No. 10 undertake at once all necessary and proper steps and conduct all required negotiations leading to the ultimate, but'immediate, inclusion of said Junipero Serra Boulevard and HickeyBoulevard within the State Highway System of the State of California, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco as follows: 1. Said City Souncil does, by this resolution, go on record as favoring the immediate inclusion of Junipero Serra Boulevard and said Hickey Boulevard within the State HighwAy~iSystem of the State of California. 2. The Board of Directors of Joint Highway District No. 10 is hereby requested and strongly urged to undertake immediately any and all steps and procedures which may be necessary for the inclusion of said Junipero Serra Boulevard and Hickey Boulevard within the State Highway System of the State of California. Further, said Board of Directors is hereby urged to enter immediately into negotiations with the Division of Highways of the Department of Public Works of the State of California for the purpose of carrying out all such necessary steps and procedures. In order to facilitate such negotiations, said Board of Directors is also requested to forward, without delay, to said Division of highways all required engineering data~ financial statements, and all other records and reports pertaining to the construction, maintenance, and operation of said Junipero Serra Boulevard and Hickey Boulevard. 3. The Board of Directors of said Joint Highway District No. 10 and the Division of Highways are hereby requested to perform and do everything possible within their oower, including the sponsoring of appropriate enabling legislation, so that the above-stated purpose may be accomplished at the earliest possible date. ~. The City Clerk is hereb~ directed to mail certified copies of this resolution to the Board of Directors of Joint Highway District no. 10, the Division of Highways of the Department of Public Works of the State of California, the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco, the Board of Suoe~isors of the County of San Mateo, and to the City Councils of all the incorporated cities within the County of San Mateo.
