HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2340-19564 RESOEUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DETERMINING THE NERD OF SAID CITY FOR A FULL-TIME CITY ATTORNEY AND DECLARING THE INTEk~ION OF SAID CITY COUNCIL TO TAKE APPROPRIATE ST~S TO ESTABLISH THE OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY ON A FULL-TIME BASIS. WHEI~F&S it is the sense of the City Council of the City of South San Fran~ cisco that the expansion, growth, and development of said City in the industrial, commercial, and residential zones and the increase in population of said City require the employment of a city attor~.ey devoting full and exclusive time in the service of the City; and ~,'~EREAS it is deemed to be in the public interest to establish the office of the city attorney on a full-time basis and to appoint a duly qualified individual to such office to serve the City at such rate of annual compensation as said City Council may establishj N~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by.~said City Council to take appropriate action to implement this resolution for the purpose of establishing said office of city attorney on the basis of full-time employment and exclusive service to the City, as specified in the premises hereto, the occupant of said office to receive such annual compensation as the City Council may, from time to time, establish. BE IT FURTHER R~OLVED that, should a vacancy occur in said office pending the time that it shall be established on a full-time basis and the services of a full-time attormey obtained, in order to maintain a continuity of legal service on behalf of said City, its boards, comissions, and officials, said City Council shall employ appropriate legal counsel om a temporary, interim, or part-time basis, such employment to be upon such other terms and conditions as said City Cotmcil may deem appropriate.
