HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2353-1956RESOLUTION ~O. 2353 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO PRO¥IDING FO~ EKTRA PAY FOR HOLIDAYS FOR THOSE M~B~.~RS OF THE POLICE, FIRE, AND fJANITATION DEPAT~TP[~,!T~ ~'HO DO NOT RECEIVE THE Bt~EFIT OF THE REGULARLY ESTABLISHED MUNICIPAL HOLIDAYS. WHEREAS many City employees of the City of South San Francisco who are members of the Police, Fire, and Sanitation Departments (hereafter refer~ed to ~s the "Safety Departments") do not receive the benefit of the officially established municipal holidays by havin~ free time on said days, that is, not having to work thereon and not being accorded compensating free time; and ~EREAS it is but fair and equitable that said City employees be given the benefit of said official holidays either by receiving compensating free time or by bein~ given extra compensation in the form of an extra day's salary for every holiday the benefit of which said City employees do not otherwise receive, NOW, ~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that said City Council does hereby determine that it shall be the policy of said City that all those city employees who are members of the Safety Departments of said City and who do not receive the benefit of the official municipal holidays of said City, either directly or in the form of compensating free time with respect thereto, shall be entitled to receive an extra day's salary for each and every one of said official municips1 holidays, the benefit of which they do not so receive. The policy hereby established shall take effect on the 1st day ef July 1956, the initial date of the ensuing fiscal year of 1956-1957, and shall be in force thereafter. BE IT FURTHER RFSOLVED that all City employees who do not receive a holiday benefit for Memorial Day, the 3Otb day of May 1956, which is an official holiday of said City, shall be entitled to receive an extra day's salary therefor. I hereby certify that the foregoin~ resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at sn adjourned regular meeting held this 28th day of May 1956, by the followin~ vote: G.
