HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2367-196654 RESOLUTION NO. 2367 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DET~MININGTHAT THE OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLICWORKS SHALL BE F/liED BYWAY OF PROMOTION, AND THAT ONLY M~S OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS SHALL BE ELIGIBLE FOR SUCH OFFICE. WHEREAS the office of Superintendent ef Public Werks is presently vacant, and whereas there are presently several persons employed in the Department of Public Works who have faithfully and capably served the City of South San Francisco; and WHEREAS it is the policy of the City Council to make available to loyal, faithful, and qualified employees of the City, opportunities, for, promotion whenever that is possible and whenever to do so will be in the best interests of the City; and %~EREAS, pursuant to the aforementioned policy ef said City Ceuncil,'it is deemed that the office of Superintendent of Public Works should be filled by way of promotion only; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by said City Council that it shall, and hereby does, determine that the aforementioned office of Superintendent of Public Works shall be filled by may of promotion within the Department of Public Works, and that only permanent members of said Departme~t:shall be eligible to take the competitive examination for said office of Superintendent ef Public Works. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Personnel Board ef the City, acting by and through its Clerk, shall, and is hereby instructed to, conduct a proper comw~titive examination within a reasonable time hereafter, ameng those members ~f the Department of Public Work who, pursuant to the terms hereof, are eligible te take such examination, and who make applicatien therefor after receiving notice. BE IT STILL FURTHER RFSOLVFD that the City Clerk shall, and he is hereby instructed to, forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Personnel B~ard of the City.
