A RF~OLUTION OF THE CITY CO~CIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN F~ANCISCO PROTE~TING AND OPPOSING THE
ESTABLISHING AND ~INTAINING OF A GARBAGE AND
REFUSE DUMP IN THE AREA IMME~IATELY ADJOININC
THE '~TERN TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF SAID CITY.
~EREAS application has heretofore been made to the Beard of Supervisors
of the County of San Mateo for the purpose of obtainin~ a permit to establish and maintain a garbage
and refuse dump in an area immediately to the west of the corporate limits of the City ef South San
Francisco, near the Winston Manor subdivisions; and
~EREAS the City Council of the City ef South San Francisco has been informed
that if a garbage and refuse dump is operated and maintained at the Droposed location mentioned above,
rodents, vermin, flies, and bugs will be ~ttracted to the site ef said garbage and refuse dump and will
spread throughout large residential areas or said City which are situate nearby; and
~EREAS said City Council verily believes that the health and w~lfare ef
many of the resident~ of said City will be greatly imperilled by reason of the proximity of the proposed
garbage and refuse dump,
NO%~Y~ THEREFORE, BE IT RF~OLVED by the City Council of said City that said
City Council is opposed to, and does therefore protest against, the issuance of any permit by the Beard
of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo allowin~ the operation and maintenance efa garbage and~refuse
dump in the area immediately to the west of the corporate limits of said City. In this cHnnedtien, the
City Clerk ef said City is hereby instructed to forward certified copies of this reselutien~to said
Beard of Supervisors and, in additien~te the Planning Con.mission of the County of San Mateo.
BE IT FURTHF2 RESOLVED that the City Clerk of said City be, and he hereby
is, directed to give to the improvement clubs of the Winston Manor subdivisions written notice of the
action hereby taken by this City Council. In this regard, said City Clerk shall transmit to said
improvement clubs certified copies of this resolution.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held this 18th
day of June 1956, by the following vote:
