(s m) ~FAS it has been brought te the att~mtion of the City Council of the City ef South San Francisco that the Ce~ty of San Mateo and 8 n~ber ef the :icipalities situate in said Ce~ty have been ~ving c~nsideratien to the enactment efa Co~ty and Municipal Sales Tax Ordinance for the ~rpose of increasinE County and Municipal t~ revenues; and WHEREAS said City Ceuncil has given serious consideration and study to the question ef enacting a Sales Tax Ordinance; and ~'~EREAS said City Council is presently of the opinion that through the practice of economy and the adhering to proper budgets the County of San Mateo and all the municipalities situate therein are able to raise sufficient tax moneys to finance all their necessary governmental operations without the'necessity of raisinA additional revenues through Sales Tax measures; and ~EREAS said City Ceunctl is alse ef the opinion that the enactment and enforcement ef Ceunty and Municipal Sales Tax erdinances will impose an unnecessary financial burden upen the people residing within, and transacting business in, said Ceunty and said municipalities, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by said City Council that it shall, end it hereby does, oppose the enactment ef Sales Tax ordinances by the Ceunty ef San Matee and the various municipalities situate therein. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the eppesitien te Ceunty and Municipal Sales Tax measures, as herein expressed by said City Ceu~cil, shall net be interpreted as being an irrevocable stand insofar as concerns said matter, and said City Ceu~cil does hereby reserve its right to change its position relative to Ceunty and Municipal sales taxation in the event that it sheuld be brought to the attentien of said body that the raising ef moneys through such type ef'taxatienwill be ' beneficial te the County ef San Mateo and the City of South San Francisco and, at the same time, will not be inimical to the best interests of the citizenry of said County and State. BE IT STILL FURTHER R~OLVED that the City Clerk of said City be, and he hereby is, instructed te forward certified copies of this resolutien to the Beard ef Supervisors of the County ef San Mateo and to the City Councils of all the cities situate in said County. I hereby certify that the foregoing reselutien was regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meetinE of the City Ceuncil of the City ef South San Francisco held on the 18th day ef June 1956, by the fellewing vote:' AYES, COUNCILMEN:~ G.
