HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2397-1956RESOLUTION NO. 2397 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AMF~DING SECTION & OF RULE IVa OF THE ESTABLISHED PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULA~ ONS OF SAID CITY BY SPECIFYING ELIGIBILITY FOR POSTS OF POLICE SERGEANT AND POLICE CAPTAIN, AND VACATING RESOLUTION NO. 1328, PASSED AND ADOPTED O~ MA~CH ~5.,~_l?~S. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that Section & of Rule IVa of the "EStablished Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of South San Francisco" be, and the same hereby is, amended so that said Section A, as amended, shall read as follows: "Section A. In order for a person to be eligible to make application for appointment~in the competitive service to the post of Sergeant of Police or to t~he post of Captain of Police, he shall, at the time of making application and at the time of appointment, be a member of the Police Department and be in good standinE, and,in addition, he shall meet the following requirements: "(a) With respect to the post of Sergeant of Police, the applicant shall have'served as a patrol- man in the Police Department of the City continuously for a minimum period of four (~) years immediately'prior to the filing of application for appointment to such post. "(b) With respect to the post of Captain of Police, the applicant shall have attained at least 'the rank of Sergeant of Police and be holding such rank at the time of his filing application for, and his acceptance of, appointment to such post." BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said City Council that Resolution No. 1328, passed and adopted on the 15th day of March 19~8, be, and the same hereby is, vacated and set aside. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held this 6th day of August, by the following vote: AYe: COUNCILMEN G.
