HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2417-1956RESOLUTION NO. 2~17 A R~OLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DESIGNATING THE P~P~IOD EXTENDING FROM SEPTEMBFR 17TH TO SEPTFMBER 24TH INCLUSIVE, AS "CITY OF HOPE ~EEK", AND AUTHORIZING THE ~YOR OF SAID CITY TO ISSUE AN OFFICIAL PROCLAMATION IN THAT REGARD. ¥~EREAS, between the 17th day of September 1956 and the 2Ath day of September 1956, inclusive, there will be conducted a drive in the form of a Mothers' March and Tag Week for the CITY OF HOPE: and ~MEREAS the CITY OF HOPE, a national non-sectarian organization, is established for the purpose of research and the Free care of patients suffering from such catastrophic disease~ as cancer, leukemia, heart and lung diseases susceptible to surgery, and tuberculosis; and h~EREAS volunteers from all phases of business and profession will be soliciting for funds for this worthy cause for the support of the medical center; and ~EREAS it is vital to the preservation of our community's health end welfare that as many of the citizenry as possible aid in this worthy cause by giving their time and donations, NOkr, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that said City Council does hereby declare that the period of time extending between the 17th day of September 1956 and the 2&th day of September 1956, inclusive, be officially designated as "CITY OF HOPE L~EK" in said City of South San Francisco. In that connection, said City Council does urge all the citizens of this community to aid in this worthy cause. BE IT FU~!THER RESOLVED that the Mayor of said City be, and he hereby is, requested to issue his proclamation proclaiming, for the City of South San Francisco, the period of time hereinbefore specified as "CITY OF HOPE ?~EK". I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held this 17th day of September 1956, by the follow-lng vote: AYES: Councilmen G.
