A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO COMMENDING THE KNIGHTS OF
COLUMBUS ON THEIR 75TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, South san Franciscans, who enjoy membership in the Knights of Columbus
will join with their fraternal brothers and an untold legion of friends and well-wishers
throughout the country in celebrating on March 29, 1957, the 75th Anniversary of the
organization's first charter grant; and
WHEREAS, Consonant with its attainment in 1956, for the first time, of a
membership roll totaling more than one million, the Knights of Columbus, has reached
new high levels of contributions to society through its far-reaching, forward-looking
and highly effective programs designed to promote and conduct educational, cultural,
charitable, religious, social welfare and relief activities; and
WHEREAS, The inspirational qualities of the constructive programs undertaken
by the Knights of Columbus are such as to commend them unreservedly to those who are
concerned with and dedicated to the well-being and advancement of the nation and all of
its people, and it is eminently fitting that we, upon the forthcoming Anniversary ob-
servance, commend the great and helpful fraternity whose patriotic and religious ser-
vices have won for it a high place in the esteem of the world and whose good deeds have
smoothed the paythways of countless thousands; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does herebY
extend to the entire membership of the Knights of Columbus heartiest felicitations and
warmest congratulations upon the doubly significant occasion of its attainment of a
total membership of more than one million and upon the forthcoming observance of the
75th Anniversary of the granting of its charter; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That this City Council does hereby express to the Knights
of Columbus its sincere wish that the organization may continue to enjoy an existence
abundant with usefulness, productivity and well-directed endeavor in the service of its
God and country.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
regular meeting held on the 4th day of March, 1957, by the following vote:

Councilmen G. J. Rozzi, Andrew Rocca, Emilio Cortesi,
Francis Lucchio and Leo J. Ryan
