RESOLUTION NO. 2617
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL .OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRAN-
CISCO RELATIVE TO WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION BKNBFITS FOR REGISTERED
VOLUNTEER "DISASTER SERVI.~B WORKERS"
WHEREAS, Soction 1599.1 of the Military and Veterans Code (Chapter 104,
Statutes 1946 First Extraordinary Session)providew':' '
"The California State Disaster Council
shall' establish by rule and regUlation
various classes of disaster service
workers 'and the scope of'the duties of
each class; The~ California ~Stat® Dis-
aster Council shall also 'adopt rules and
regUlations prescribing the' manner in
which disaster service workers of' each
class are to 'be registered;. Ail such
rules and regUlations shall be designed
to facilitate the paying of workmon's
compensation." and
WHEREAS, the CaliforniaStateDisaster Council has adopted rules and
regulations establishing classes of disaster service workers, the scope of duties of
each class and the manner of registration of such volunteer'workere, and
WHEREAS, Soction 1599.2 of the Military and Veterans Code (Chapter 104,
Statutes 1946 First Extraordinary' Session) provideS:'/'.

by the California State Dlsaster COuncil
pursuant to' theprovislonm of Section 1599.1
of this'code'and substantially comptieswith
such rules and'r®gUlations shall be certi-
fied by the:California State Disaster Counc11.
Upon ~aktng such certification, and'not before,
the disaster council becmaes aa, accredited
disaster council." and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco hem registered and will hereafter
register volunteer disaster service workers, and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco desires to become an "accredited
disaster council" organization in order that injured disaster service workers regis-
tered with it may benefitby the provisions of the Labor Code,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the'City of South San Francisco hereby
agree to follow the rulesand regUlations established by the California State D~saster
Council under dateof' April 4, 1956, as amended, pursuant'to theprovisions of Section
1599.1 of the' Military and 'Veterans Code (Chapter 104, Statutes 1946 First Extra-
ordinary Session). The City Clerk is hereby instructed to send two certified copies
hereof to the California State Disaster Council (California Disaster Office).
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution ns regUlarly
introduced and adoptM by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
at a regular meeting held on the 7th day Of April, 1958, by the following
vote:
