HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2626-1958RESOLUTION NO. 2626 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO GRANTING SPUR AND DRILL TRACK PERMITS TO THE SOUTHERN PACIFIc COMPANY ON EAST ALLEN AVENUE, UTAH AVENUE, LITTLEFIELD AVENUE AND A SECOND LOCATION ON UTAH AVENUE WHEREAS, Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, has applied for permits. to construct and operate a drill track and spur track in the location herein- after designated, and WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco desires to issue said permits on the conditions hereinafter stated. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, be, and it is hereby; permitted to construct and operate drill track and spur track as herein- after designated upon the following conditions: A. Conditions: 1. That the trackage will be constructed as nearly as possible level with the street grading. 2. That the permittee, Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, shall maintain and keep in repair the trackage' and street crossings by said trackage extending two (2) feet each side of said tr~akage. 3. That in the event said trackage is abandoned and no longer required for service, permittee shall remove the trackage, o~ cause it to be removed, at its own expense, and at no cost to the City of South San Francisco, and shall restore the surface of the street and the bed in accordance with specifications of the City of South San Francisco. 4. That permittee, Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, shall hold City harmless from any claims, suits, or demands arising out of personal injury or property damage caused by construction, operation, maintenance, repair, or condition of said trackage and area contained between lines two (2) feet on each side of said trackage, and shall further defend any and all suits, claims, or demands brought be- cause of personal injury or property damage. 5. That permittee, Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, shall install maintain and operate sufficient safety signals, or other precautions, required to keep said crossings safe for the public to travel over and across; and should the original installation of crossing signals prove inadequate because of increased traffic or because of other matters, permittee shall modify or install safety precaUtions or signals adequate to meet said increase in traffic or other matters. That the original installation shall be flashing.wigwag signals on the two (2) Utah loca- tions and standard #1 crossing signs at East Allen Avenue and Littlefield Avenue. 6. This trackage shall be'used as industrial trackage and not as a main line or any portion thereof. B. Location: 1. Drill tracks and spur tracks across certain streets in South San Francisco Industrial Park, Units No. 1 and No. 2 in the City of South San Francisco, said trackage is more particularly described as follows: Center Line Description of Proposed Drill Track Crossing East Allen Avenue, Proposed PUC No. E-10.32-C Proposed Drill Track Beginning at a point in the northerly line of East Allen Avenue, Distant 292 feet, more or less, easterly thereon from the intersection thereof with the east- erly line of Harbor Way; thence southerly across said East Allen Avenue, 60 feet, to a point in the southerly line of said East Allen Avenue, distant 292 feet, more or less, easterly thereon from the intersection thereof with the easterly line of said Harbor Way. Proposed Runaround Track Beginning at a point in the northerly line of East Allen Avenue, dis- tant 292 feet, more or less, easterly thereon from the intersection thereof with the easterly line of Harbor Way; thence southeasterly through a No. 7 turnout across said East Allen Avenue,60 feet, more or less, to a point in the southerly line of East Allen Avenue, distant 297 feet, more or less, easterly thereon from the inter, section thereof with the easterly line of said Harbor Way. Center Line Description of Proposed Drill Track Crossing Utah Avenue, Proposed PUC No. E-10.56-C Beginning at a point in the northwesterly line of Utah Avenue, distant 363 feet, more or less, northeasterly thereon from the intersection thereof with the northeasterly line of Harbor Way; thence southeasterly.across said Utah Avenue 84 feet, more or less, to a point in the southeasterly line of said Utah Avenue, distant 366 feet, more or less, northeasterly thereon from the intersection thereof with the northeasterly line of said Harbor Way. Center Line Description of Proposed Drill Track Crossing Lit. tlefield Avenue, PropOsed PUC No. E-10,75-C Beginning at a point in the northerly line of Littlefield Avenue, distant 375 feet, more or less, westerly thereon from the intersection thereof with the westerly line of Rozzi Way, thence southerly across said Littlefield Avenue, 60 feet, to a point in the southerly line of said Littlefield Avenue, distant 375 feet, more or less westerly thereon from the intersection thereof with the prolong- ation of th~:'~esterly line of said Rozzi Way. Center Line Description of Proposed Drill. Track Crossing Utah Avenue, Proposed PUC No. E-10.43-C Beginning at a point in the northerly line of Utah Avenue, distant 332 feet, more or less, westerly thereon from the intersection thereof with the westerly line of Harbor Way; thence southerly across said Utah Avenue, 84 feet, more or less, to a point in the southerly line of said Utah Avenue, distant 328 feet, more or less, westerly thereon from the intersection thereof with the westerly line of said Harbor Way. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Fran- cisco at a regular meeting held this 21st day of April, 1958, by the following vote: AYES, Councilmen G. g.
