HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2666-1958A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO URGING PUBLIC SUPPORT TO SENDING THE BURLINGAME HIGH SCHOOL STRING ORCHESTRA TO THE WORLD'S FAIR AT BRUSSELS WHEREAS, the Burlingame High School String Orchestra has been invited to perform at the World's Fair in Brussels, and WHEREAS, this honor is a recognition of talent and training that will, in so performing, serve the best interest of the Nation, and WHEREAS, we, in South San Francisco, are proud of our talented neighbors and wish to congratulate and commend them, and WHEREAS, more contributions of public spirted citizens are needed to defray the cost of the Burlingame High School String Orchestra's passage to and from Brussels. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby congratulate and commend the talented members of the Burlingame High School String Orchestra and M. Lawrence Short, the orchestra's conductor, and express deep appreciation for the services they will render by performing at the World's Fair in Brussels. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the people of the City of South San Francisco are hereby urged and requested to join other public spirited citizens in making contributions to help defray the cost of passage for the Burlingame High School String Orchestra to and from Brussels by sending donations to Burlingame-Brussels Music Fund, Burlingame, Californi~ I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at an adjourned regular meeting'held on the 14th day of July, 1958, by the following vote: AYES, Councilmen G.
