HomeMy WebLinkAboutRDA Minutes 1986-12-10 MINUTES THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO REGULAR MEETING December 10, 1986 TIME: 7:00 p.m. PLACE: Community Room, Municipal Services Building, 33 Arroyo Drive, South San Francisco, CA 94080 CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Mark N. Addiego called the Redevelopment Agency meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. INVOCATION: The invocation was cited by Rev. Robin Dummer, Grace Covenant Church ROLL CALL: Present: Chairman Mark N. Addiego, Vice Chairman Jack Drago, Member Richard A. Haffey, Member Gus Nicolopulos Absent: Member Roberta Cerri Teglia Also Present: Executive Director C. Walter Birkelo, Deputy Executive Director Mark Lewis AGENDA Executive Director Birkelo stated that there was nothing to REVIEW: add nor subtract from the agenda, but would like the Board to note that we are asking to adjourn this meeting until 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday for a joint hearing with the City Council on the Shearwater matter. APPROVAL OF It was motioned by Member Haffey, seconded by Vice Chair BILLS: Drago, that claims as submitted for payment in the amount of 26,549.91 for December 10, 1986, be approved. The motion as made and seconded was unanimously carried. RESOLUTION Executive Director Birkelo informed the Board that Assistant Executive Director/Secretary, Smith would present the Staff Report for this item. Jean Smith stated that staff recommends that the Redevelop- ment Agency adopt the resolution which approves the requested variance and installation of the two advertising signs as it contains the additions as well as the findings for making the variance. Homart and Coldwell Banker have applied to the Agency for permission to install two real estate advertising signs from the top floor of the new office building which is at 651 Gateway Blvd. under a variance that was granted on June 13, 1984. The Gateway Specific Plan as well as the South San Francisco Municipal Code limits advertising signs to 20 square feet, and in order to do an adequate job for this large building, it is staff's recommendation that the Agency adopt the attached resolution containing the findings and conditions. John Aguilar of Homart Development Company stated: The staff report and the conditions laid out in it are acceptable to us, and I will be happy to respond to your questions. PUBLIC Chairman Addiego opened the public hearing for members of the HEARING public to speak concerning this item. No one spoke. The OPENED: public hearing was closed. It was moved by Member Haffey that the resolution be adopted ~,~ subject to the findings and conditions contained in the staff report. The motion was seconded by Member Nicolopulos and regularly carried. The resolution is entitled "A RESOLUTION GRANTING A VARIANCE TO AUTHORIZE TWO 320 SQUARE FOOT ADVERTISING SIGNS TO BE INSTALLED AT 651 GATEWAY BOULEVARD." CLOSED Executive Director Birkelo stated that there was nothing to SESSION: be considered in closed session. GOOD AND Chairman Addiego invited members of the public to speak on WEL~FARE: issues relating to redevelopment. No one spoke. A OURNMENT: It was motioned by Member Haffey, seconded by Member Nicolopulos and unanimously carried, that the meeting be adjourned to December 17, for a joint meeting with the City Council.
