HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 3027-1960RESOLUTION NO. 3027 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO COMMENDING PILOT DON STORKAN AND THE CREW OF PAN AMERICAN DC-7 AIRCRAFT WHEREAS, DON STORKAN, the pilot of a Pan American DC-7 Aircraft, and the crew of said plane skillfully maneuvered and controlled the plane on Saturday, May 28, 1960, after one engine caught fire over the residential area of South San Francisco so as to avoid a forced'or crash landing, and WHEREAS, the residents of the City of South San Francisco and the members of the City Council on their behalf desire to commend PILOT DON STORKAN and the members of the crew of said plane for skillfully maneuvering and controlling the plane during this emergency condition so as to land it safely at San Francisco International Airport and thereby avoid damage to property and injury and possible death to residents of South San Francisco and passengers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby commend PILOT DON STORKAN and the members of the crew of Pan American DC-7 Aircraft for skillfully maneuvering and controlling said plane away from the residential areas of South San Francisco to the landing strip at the San Francisco International Airport on Saturday, May 28, 1960. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held this 6th day of June, 1960, by the following vote: AYES, NOES, ABSENT, Councilmen Andrew Rocca, G.
