RESOIMTION NO. 3208
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
COMMENDING BETHLEHEM STEEL COMPANY FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP IN AIR
POLLUTION CONTROL
WIIEREAS, the Bethlehem Steel Company, in the interest of clean air in this area, has under-
taken, together with other members of the steel industry, the installation of a new experimental
method for reducing stack dust emmissions by more than ninety-nine per cent (99~), and
WHERFAS, their undertaking is in keeping with a deep sense of community responsibility, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco desires to commend Bethlehem
Steel Company,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that
said City Council does hereby commend Bethlehem Steel Company for pioneering the full scale trial of
the experimental method of non-shaking bag system on open hearth steel furnaces in order to reduce
their smog producing stack dust emmissions and contribute to the welfare of South San Francisco and
the Bay Area.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and
adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regularmeeting held
this 5th day of June, 1961, by the following vote:
