HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 3292-1961RESOLUTION NO. 3292 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO OPPOSING PROPOSED ASSEMBLY BILL 1354 RELATING TO VEHICLE WEIGHT LIMIT RESTRICTIONS ON CITY STREETS WHEREAS, the Assembly Bill which reads as follows: "Section 35722 is added to the Vehicle Code, to read: 'No ordinance proposed under Section 35701 shall be effective with respect to any highway when it would operate to impede the normal flow of vehicles on that highway unless there is pro- vided a reasonable alternate route in the same area'" is now pending before the Assembly Interim Committee ou Transportation and Commerce for study, and WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City of South San Francisco such legisla- tion would adversely affect the public interest of the citizens of the City Of South San Francisco iu that such legislation would render existing vehicle weight limit restrictions on city streets unworkable, ineffective and unenforceable, NOW, TH]EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that - 1. the Assembly Interim Committee on Transportation and ~Commerce be ad- vised that the City Council is opposed to the adoption of Assembly Bill 1354, and 2. the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to trans- mit a copy of this resolution to Assemblyman Jack A. Beaver, Chairman, Assembly Interim Committee on Transportation and Commerce, Room 41~0, State Capitol, Sacramento, California. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meetin~ held on the 2nd day of October, 1961, by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Noes, " Absent, " G.
