HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 3298-1961RESOLUTION NO. 3298 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO FILE WITH THE NA- TIONAL INSTITUTE OF MUNICIPAL LAW OFFICERS A REQUEST THAT A COMMITTEE OF N.I.M.L.0. BE APPOINTED TO COMPILE AND PRE- SENT DATA TO THE CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE STUDYING JET NOISE W}{EREAS, uniform regulations are needed to relieve residents near airports of the nuisance caused by Jet aircraft passing over residential areas on take-off and landings, and WHEREAS, said uniform standards can best be determined through Joint efforts of the cities concerned, and WHEREAS, the standards once determined should be expressed in a federal reg- ulation or uniform regulation of local governments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Attorney is hereby authorized to request that the National In- stltute of Municipal Law Officers undertake the formation of a task force of City Attorneys for study and determination of a reasonable decibel standard for expression in a federal regulation or uniform ordinance made available to local governments, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney also request that the task force undertake to present their findings, determinations and suggestions to the appropriate congressional committee for the purpose of affecting a reasonable federal regulation and should a federal regulation not be developed, then the reasonable deci- bel standard be expressed in a uniform ordinance made available for enactment by cities. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held this 2nd day of October, 1961, by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Noe s, Absent, " G.
